... and I’m feeling great!! Almost too great. liquid intake is good, no nausea, pain is manageable. If anything is scaring me a little it is my lower right incision that’s knotted and has a constant tugging sensation with some very mild bruising. Anyone else have a good post op experience?

Congrats! IKR? Nobody warns about feeling too good and having doubts about our surgery! I'm so scared I messed things up drinking early cuz I had ZERO probs with it--even BIG sips. And now I can eat anything. I've renamed my new pouch Iron Will--cuz I can eat everything at 6 weeks.

Hope you keep taking things SLOWLY even though you are feeling great. Happy for the great report!!!

9 days out, and same here. I took the pain meds my first day home, then just at night to help me get comfortable so I could sleep for another 3 or 4 days. I can't believe how great I feel. The RN and nutritionist I spoke to pre-op kept making it sound like I'd be miserable for a month, and said there's no way I'd be back to work the first week of May - I want to go back next week!

Oh yeah!!! I’m still terrified of busting a staple or dumping so I’m following everything to a T, except today I took 15ml milk of mag and I think I had a slight dump from that.. sweats nausea felt like I was either going to be sick or use the bathroom, I’m afraid to try it again needless to say lol.

I’m 5 days post op. & i feel amazing. Like you Except on my left lower incision I feel a knot or a constant tugging sensation which is annoying. But other than that, no nausea, pain is minimal, and I’m keeping liquids down good. I keep thinking in doing things wrong because of how good i feel besides that little knot feeling in the left lower side.

You either have some extra stitching there or that's where the stomac came out if you were sleeved. Don't feel guilty,if you're not suffering, you probably, did all yours getting ready. Enjoy it for what it is. Proud things went so very well!😝

I'm 3 days post op & feel terrible, some regret actually but I feel like my insides were ripped out. Trying my best to get fluids in & probably but I know I'm not hitting the mark fluids and Protein. I've got ice packs on my stomach now. I thought my pain tolerance would be better than this.

I’m having this exact same fear because I gulp also. I’m supposed to transition to purees today but I’m absolutely terrified to - what If I start eating again and can’t stop. Do you feel more restriction with food than with liquids?

Yes, the more solid and dense, the more texture I get, the better my satiety. Hang in there. You're going through a super hard phase(s) right now! It does get better!!

I had my surgery 4 days ago as well. If it isn’t for the incisions on my stomach, I would question if I really had the surgery or was used as some placebo test. The hardest thing is learning to sleep on my back. No issues with liquids.

I'm relieved to see these responses. I had sleeve surgery 4/12 and I feel basically normal. Still some twinges in the incision where my stomach was pulled out, but I'm not having any trouble getting all of my required fluids, etc. in. Glad to hear that it should straighten up when I move on to denser food.

Congrats to everyone!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
