Banded on Oct 29, and not losing yet.

Recommended Posts

In fact I'm up a few pounds. I'm so confused. I track my calories, carbs, Proteins and I'm at 735 calories for today with 95 Protein. I'm so swollen and still very gassy. I just don't get this at all. I'm having a slight panic feeling, like I'm not going to lose. I know it has only been a day. I'm hoping someone more experienced will reply and let me know what is going on.

Thanks a bunch!

I had it done on the 26th and still a little swollen. I gained about 5 lbs from the fluids pumped into me but lost that after about 3 days. I still can't have anything but Clear Liquids until thur. so slow down, relax, quit counting and let your stomach heal. Good Luck.

Thanks Staci you are right! Sheesh, I think what is bothering me is that when it was all done, the doctor told my dh that I had no abdominal muscles. He told my dh that without any abdominal muscles it would be very hard to lose weight. DUH, that is why I did this, I can't seem to lose even on 1500 calories! Well I think that he was being kind and letting my dh know that I need to really do a LOT of exercise, and I guess this is something I should know. Rambling... I'll just wait until my first appt. and discuss it then. Thanks again.

Dear GAWDDDDDDD lol You just got banded 2 days ago! Your body has to recover from surgery. The band has no Fluid in it yet. RELAX! If you start obsessing over things you're gonna drive yourself crazy. Relax,,,recoup,,,do exactly as your physician instructs you and you'll be fine.

I was banded 1/29/07 and felt miserable for a few days,,bloated,,painful,,not wanting to drink anthing. I kept my manual my surgeon gave me handy,,reading all the materials,,keeping my fluids in a Tupeprware measured container. I concentrated on getting well first. My motto is : If I do what I'm supposed to be doing, I'll get the results I'm wanting. It's not easy,,but 65 pounds later,,it's easier today than it was at first. Keep your eye on the prize!! Good luck!!

Sorryyyyyyyyyyyy I didn't mean to come across as mean!

It was like a dream coming true for me as well. Everything I ever tried,,I failed. My fear of failure is my biggest character defect and I struggle with it daily. I guess I was trying to spare you the stress of agonizing over things, but I have to remember that we each have our own journey. Just be kind to yourself,,,you have lots of support here. You are not alone.

Relax! I came home from surgery 10 pounds heavier than I was the previous morning! It took a full 8 days before I lost the 10 pounds of extra Fluid. Do a search of LBT on "bandster hell" so you can know what to expect during the 4-6 weeks after surgery.

After my surgery I was so excited to get on the scales, only to see a 7 pound gain. I was so confused. Well...after a couple of days, it came off. You'll be fine. Don't worry now...just get better so that you can get exercising when you heal. You'll be fine. :nervous

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
