Hi

not sure what you mean by “ hard to go” but probably wise to get some gentle stool softener from doctor so that it doesn’t build up.

you are not eating any Fiber currently

good luck

Yes, max out on MOM for 2-3 days until you've had 6-8 big and I mean sizeable poos.

Then like @Luisajfc said: 2 colace pills and I do daily Miralax. So far that means a normal size poopy every day. Keeps the troops happy. :)

Yep, the best thing is taking Colace. It is very gentle on the stomach and works in about 1-2 days. My surgeon said I could take it both in the morning and at night.

coffee works for me. Not much of it (~3oz) and with a fair amount of milk, but it did the trick.

Ask your surgeon. Mine had me drink citrate of magnesium. It helped me go and I’ve had no issues since.

I used Miralax and then I alternated between diarrhea and Constipation, trying benifiber now. It is hard to get in all three doses because you can't take it with Calcium supplements. The doses I have gotten in have stopped the diarrhea and constipation. Missed a dose and went back to diarrhea.

I went once in 2 weeks. Lots of passing gas but not actual bowel movements. I guess it don’t have much to release lol but my 2 week post op is today so I’ll ask

I use the Atkins plus Protein Shakes with 7 grams of Fiber and I’m finally getting in enough Water. Water, fiber, walk/move, repeat. I was prescribed Miralax but haven’t taken it yet. Keep dr. aware of things, and be careful of things that may “swing the gate” too far in the other direction.

If you are at the point where you can still go, please start using colace twice a day (or your choice of softners) immediately. They take time to kick in.

I am three weeks out and mine got progressively worse. I think mine is due to my extended full liquid diet. I had two weeks full liquids preop, then 1 week Clear Liquids, and 3 weeks full liquids (still on full liquids now). Too much Protein and not enough of anything else aside from Water. I waited too long and became impacted. I actually had to go to the hospital for help which was awful on so many levels and still did not resolve the issue. They gave me some sort of super laxative, which still took two days to work a bit, even though they said I would be lucky to make it home. I'm now on prescribed powdered miralax and doculax suppositories to get some relief.

I expected some Constipation, but did not keep up with the colace thinking that it would not get too bad. I was so very wrong.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
