IDONTWANTTOGROWUP 9 Posted April 10, 2018 Portion sizesHey everyone, I’m three weeks post op. I’m on soft foods. For dinner I had 3 ounces of ham plus 2 ounces of sweet potato. I think I inadvertently overate. At this stage am I supposed to only be eating 1/4 cup of food per meal? I really don’t want to mess this up.
aNYCdb 310 Posted April 10, 2018 That’s sounds like probably a little more than you should be comfortable eating, but everyone is different. I guess the question is did you get so full it caused pressure and nausea? If not you are fine if it did go smaller till you are further along. Either way you really don’t have to worry about it causing anything other than short term discomfort.
ddibella 1 Posted April 10, 2018 You are able to eat ham already?
IDONTWANTTOGROWUP 9 Posted April 10, 2018 I did have a little pressure but no nausea. I guess I’ll try less next time. Yes, ham is on my list!
ddibella 1 Posted April 10, 2018 Oh cool! I’m 1 month post op trying new things. So far only issues with scrambled eggs. Try eating less next time! It’s all about trial and error
kkonoske 15 Posted April 11, 2018 Make sure to eat slowly. Put your fork down in between bites. You can easily over-eat if you do it too fast. Your brain needs time to talk to your stomach to tell it that you are full.
