Endoscopic dilation - stenosis

Recommended Posts

Well after all the 'tooing and froing' back to my surgeon complaining about vomiting - they've booked me in for an endoscopic dilation because they now think I have stenosis.

Anyone got any experience of this?

Obviously - if it stops the vomiting then it's a good thing - but the thought of having to go through more 'stuff' at the hospital (especially cameras and stuff down my throat) is not filling me joy!

You guys have all been amazing so far - hope you can help again!

It’s super easy and painless! I had it done about two months ago and need it again. I can barely eat 1/2 cup after a year and I can’t ever eat even a couple of bites of bread, rice, Pasta, chicken, or any semi-dense food. The first one just didn’t solve it. How did yours go?

Hi @frust8The endoscope dilation was the answer!

It made the world of difference to my recovery and other than a few challenges with Iron and Vitamin D deficiencies I’ve been great since.

I’m 104 pounds down and about 20 off target now.

thanks so much for checking in 😀

hope you’re doing well too xx

@Savagegirl hi to you too! 👋

Wonderful for you BlueGirl216, I am glad it worked and worked well for YOU! If endoscopy was 💰 money I would be a wealthy woman. 3 EGJ, another scheduled next Wednesday November 28th and I still haven't been repaired. Been,on glorified liquid diet for 11 weeks, have lost 64 pounds since the end of July, so 45 since my surgery. Hope I can follow in your WL pathway and that things will balance out in the long run!!!

I’m sending you good thoughts and lots of prayers that this time they’ll sort you out. The constant nausea and vomiting was tough to bear so my sympathies are with you!

stay strong and I’m sure you’ll get there.

Please let me know how you get on x

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
