I know it really can be. I'm torn between the app and mobile site but really is about the same.

Insurance is a pain in the rear. I know what I'm looking at generally and it's still a pain!

Mine is Ochsner in Louisiana. I work for them so I have to use their doctors. Thankfully I like my doctors lol. And of course they can subsidize their insurance, or however that works so that really helps.

I'm shooting for December or January. Have to have insurance for 12 months before they cover surgery. Knowing how long this takes, I figured I'd get started now.

Around here, the initial consultation is with a doctor in the weight management clinic. Then you have 3 classes, 1 per month while you work on losing 10% before you get to meet the surgeon. Then if they ok all of that, they do the psychology approval and finally schedule the surgery. All in all it's a 6-8 month process.

Same for me here at Geisinger

I know crazy. Well that’s good. I called my insurance today they require you to do a 6mntb program through weight watchers [emoji30] to get a approved for the surgery. I’m already getting tired from all this information I have to do.

Weight watchers [emoji19] do you have to pay for it? If so, that’s crazy, but in the end I’m sure it’s all worth it!

Good carbs take a while to digest
Bad carbs digest right away and have hardly any food values- make your blood sugars bounce all over the place
Proteins are the building blocks of life your body uses them for repairs -doesn't bother your blood sugars- a good class of nutrients

Too complicated lol. I think I'll need to put together a picture book entitled "Momma can eat this but not this" - he's not stupid, just stubborn. And he's from Idaho, so the idea of a meal without potatoes is like dining in a foreign country to him. [emoji15]

Well, drat 🙁. My doctor had to reschedule my appointment to next Tuesday because he has to go back to the hospital this afternoon. He must be on call or something. I was getting really excited, too!

Oh, well. At least I can still go ahead and get the stuff I need to make healthier meals. I kept telling myself today is my last carb day so I think I should stick to it. Thank goodness for Sam's Club lol, eating healthy is expensive!

I feel like I need to do ALL THE READING right this minute. And buy all the Protein Powder. You know, six months out, so I'll be prepared 🙄. My brain does some strange things sometimes LOL.

This is exactly what I've been doing! I'v been "taste testing" Protein powders and bars for weeks now so I'll have a good selection of ones I actually like once the time comes, but still have 3-4 months to go! I think the prepping keeps me distracted from the anxiety I have of possibly not getting approved by my insurance. Good luck ladies!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
