I have my initial consult Friday! This is my second attempt (got approved for lap band in 2015 but I couldn't make my finances work out). This may actually be better because my new employer covers multiple types of surgery, I believe, and at a lower cost to me.

I feel like I'm better prepared this time, too.

I feel like I need to do ALL THE READING right this minute. And buy all the Protein Powder. You know, six months out, so I'll be prepared 🙄. My brain does some strange things sometimes LOL.

Hopefully I'll have an update Friday! I was surprised how quickly I got in, but then again, the hospital I work for is focused on patient care so they make it as easy as possible. I didn't even have to talk to anyone, I made my appointment online LOL

I will! The crazy thing is we have to already get our pcp clearance done before our consultation and this will be first time going to see a doctor since I was probably in grade school

That's pretty different from around here. I made my appt with the surgeon first, and I expect to find out what I need to do when I meet him. I have a pretty good idea since I have access to the hospital SharePoint [emoji16][emoji16]. It's fairly comprehensive.

I had an egd last year when they thought I was having gallbladder issues, I want to know if maybe that was recent enough. Probably not. I don't need to do sleep testing though 🙄. I already use a cpap for severe sleep apnea.

I know crazy. Well that’s good. I called my insurance today they require you to do a 6mntb program through weight watchers 😩 to get a approved for the surgery. I’m already getting tired from all this information I have to do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
