Don't worry! It will go well. I'm 10 days post op and I resumed a normal life except for the food and few pounds less. It's so worth it

good luck tomorrow!!!

I am 2 days post op. I past gas for the first time since before the surgery today. Pain is bearable with meds which I haven’t had any pain medication since early this morning so that’s another hurdle crossed. I’m anxiously awaiting my first bowel movement. I’ll feel loads better once that happens. I’m not hungry at all. It’s strange. My husband just cooked himself hamburgers and sausage. It smelled fantastic but I wasn’t hungry for it. Bizarre feeling. The food thing is easier than I thought it would be which is a huge relief.

I was nervous like you as well. Don’t worry. They will give you good meds and as soon as you pass out, you will be awake asking for more of that feel good medicine. It’ll be over before you know it!

Also, don’t let The nausea scare you. Again, I am two days post op and my nausea went away completely yesterday. I dry heaved and it felt like the world was ending for like a day. Don’t be afraid to ask your nurse for pain meds and anti-nausea meds. Those will be your friends. Just remember, it’s not forever. It will pass in a day or two!

I'm 3 days post op and last night was the first night I pass gas....and it was awesome. The pressure release was spectacular. I kinda leaned over the side of my bed with tummy on the bed and booty in the air...and it worked. I'm getting my liquids in...but its tight. My incision site is super sore because I had severe nausea because of the anesthesia...I did a lot of dry heaving and coughing after the surgery, painful. I still have no regrets.

I feel the same way and everyone is friendly and respectful. I think we're like minded people with two common goals, a healthier life with a body to match[emoji4]. I had a bowel movement right before the surgery but none thus far. My doctor prescribed Miralax so I'll give that a try tomorrow. I wish you much success when you're sleeved.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
