Things moving so fast!

Recommended Posts

So I had a 5 hr appt yesterday where I answered literally around 600 questions about myself, watched films, met with dieticians and so on. They then scheduled me my psych eval, EKG, endoscopy and bloodwork all the same appt for two weeks out. Man things are moving.

All I need now are 6 nutritional visits and they can be 2 years prior but consecutive.

Wow! I can't catch my breath!

Has anyone else had things go like this?

I wasn't expecting it to be like this at all.

I'm really surprised they can schedule all of those things "all at the same appointment"

If they do endoscopy in house...doing your EKG and running blood work that day, i could see happening.

Sounds like you've already done the first part of the psych eval. Maybe they have a visiting therapist to finish up the day of your other procedures?

Have to say, I envy your ability to have "one stop shopping" on this grocery list. LOL. Mine was really spread out!

The whole thing can be a little overwhelming at first....but once you get going on your program....you're gonna get so excited:)

Best wishes!

I had the same thing. The seminar, the questionnaire/intake. The meeting with the surgeon and 1st physical and discussion. Then scheduled all of my appts within the first 2 weeks basically. That only left doing 6 months consecutive RD appts and making my f/up visits with the surgeon. I met with the RD every month and the surgeon every 6 weeks.

They explained that she wanted all the information she could get on us early in the process in case we were not gonna be good candidates for surgery. Time passed very quickly despite my eternal whining about delays! LOL.

Good luck and welcome to the boards!!

I hope if OSU requires anything else they schedule it within a condensed time period[emoji354] so I can still make it before summer. It does get hot in the summer in Ohio, but I'm preaching to the choir whining to a Texan, aren't I? I'm trying to believe every day brings me closer, keeping a smile[emoji12] on my face until I have to cry again. And maybe my crying days[emoji11] are now over!

HW355 Cw323 and holding SD only GOD knows!

I know right? I suppose it being a COE they are prepared. My endoscopy is actually last on list. I would really rather get it all done and over. I have a little drive to get there plus managing work days so it's working out:)

HAPPY LOSING EVERYONE!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
