Got my first appointment at the surgeon's office!

Recommended Posts

I'm having my first appointment at the bariatric hospital at the end of this month. It's going to be 4 hours; I'm going to talk to an insurance person, a psychologist, and a nutritionist. I don't know where it's going from there. I started my diet consultations with my primary care this January, they said I might need 6 months of them, but am not sure. I'll find out more at the appointment. I'm so excited!

I would think you would be feeling excited. It is something scary and thrilling at the same time. You are starting a journey to make changes in your life, remaking your past, into a bright future. It can bumpy or it can be smooth , hard to predict at this point. I can tell you that b at times it will seem intense. To me and I hope to you it is all worth it. [emoji38]

I’m in my 4th month of pre op and in June get to see the surgeon. Have to lose 20 pounds. Since 1/25/18 staring weight 257 and today after up and down weighed in at 237.4. Such a relief!! To days ago weighed in at 241 up a pond then yesterday walked 1 hour vacuumed for 25 min and kept calories at 650 and today down to 237.4
Thank God. I didn’t want to post that I was up a pound. Any one else going through this roller coaster of the scale?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
