Good Luck my friend, park your personal bus right there on the gurney and go for the gold medal, you're my Olympian of the Day, you might not be at Fenway but you'll still knock this out of the Z Park and you don't have to contend with the Green Monster.

So I had surgery on May 15th! The day of surgery I was so excited that the day had finally come. I tried to take in the moment and remember as much as possible. Let me tell you as soon as that anesthesia is given to you it is LIGHTS OUT! The next thing I remember is waking up in pain, my throat was super sore and irritated (that didn't last long for me that pain was gone the same day). Then I knocked out again and when I did wake up I was already in my private room. My husband was amazing and super supportive and was like my own personal nurse helping me get out of the hospital bed to use the RR. The day after surgery I was able to drink Water but honestly did not want to. Days 1 and 2 were the worst. Mostly just pain and GAS PAINS( walking really helps)! I'm 3 days post op today and I honestly feel so great. No need for any pain meds and the incision sites themselves are just a bit sore. I'm drinking primer Protein Shakes, broth and crystal light. Tomorrow I'll try Jello but my main focus is the Protein shakes. I go back to work on Wednesday and I feel completely okay to (desk job). Anyway that has been my experience so far. I hope everyone is doing well. And for those still waiting on surgery let me tell you it gets better. Just remind yourself that the the pain is only temporary.

That is so good to hear. I really enjoy hearing all the different stories.

I am 11 days post op. And I find myself feeling a bit down. Part of it is because of this liquid dietthat I'm so over. I have to force myself to drink liquids because I'm so over it. But another part is I feel a void that cannot be filled. I underestimated Just how challenging this was going to be Mentally. It's crazy but I actually started having thoughts of regret thinking about how I can't eat the way I used to. I've been writing in my journal and that's helped but I just wonder if anyone else is feeling the same way.

I know I’ve had regrets I can’t cheer myself up with some nice food I enjoy. I haven’t really regretted surgery as can see my weight dropping much more easily than on any diet. I am trying to listen to my body more and I am definitely telling the difference between head hunger and actual hunger now. With practice you can push the cravings away somewhat. Certainly more than I did before surgery. It’s funny-this week all I can think about eating is a cheese and salad sandwich. I think it’s because my body is longing for some fresh crisp food after so much mush and liquids.

Salads with grilled chicken are definitely the 1st thing I'm going to eat when my can eat solids again. I'm sure it's just the food restrictions right now that have me feeling regretful but I'm sure it'll pass. I can already see a difference and so can those around me so that's motivating

Yes totally. I was looking at my stage 2 list. Im starting to eat flavors of yogurt. So it helps. I have pushed it to see what I can tolerate. Went good and bad. But it's definitely a struggle

I think it’s completely normal to miss our old lifestyles. I get cravings but learned to drink hot tea or munch on a bite of cheese or cottage cheese to get through it. I dont eat every time I get a craving though.

We need to learn to get active when cravings hit. In time we will learn that we feel better making healthier choices as well.

Take up a hobby it helps get through the liquid and soft foods stages. I am 21 days post op. Lets cheer each other on!

Cottage cheese is my new love! Lol!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
