Frustrated because of stalled weight loss

Recommended Posts

I was told to be patient because a stall is normal so I assume your situation is normal. Keep up the good fight!

Ok and I hope it improves very soon

I thought the dietitian would have been a great source to help with the problem! I guess we just have to muscle through it! Smh

Yes all she did was give me a copy of a sample menu & told me to not eat more than a 1,000 cal per day! But I noticed this cute little small plate that was divided into 3 section. I asked her about it, first she told me she bought it from target & then told me that that plate can hold 1 cup of food which is what my entire meal should be for each sitting! that was a encouraging reminder so she did help a little!

I hear there are expected stalls:

3 week stall

3-4 month stall

6 month stall

9 month stall

Maybe you are just in one of those stalls? I'd probably be tempted to go back to posting religiously and weighing and measuring to make sure I'm not eating more than I think. I also would try reducing cals by 10% and upping my Protein portion of my day just to see if that helps. If it doesn't, then I'd maybe try the opposite! I'd try adding 100 more calories of protein to the day.

Sorry you're stalled. They SUCK so badly! ((hugs)) Congrats on your success!!!

Mine happened at 2.5 weeks. I was stuck at the same weight +/- a pound for 10 days. Almost lost my mind! Finally broke through yesterday and have lost 5lbs in 2 days.

Hey, I'm in the same situation as you. I had surgery on Feb 28 and my surgery day I was 212lb, I lost 12 lb in the first two weeks, but then I just lost two more lbs. It's quite disappointing when you're doing everything well, but probably this stalls happens with almost everybody. The thing is keep working hard :) Good look in your journey!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
