Hi everyone!

Post surgery, I will be on a liquid diet for approximately 10 days. I don't want to have just Protein Shakes, so wanted to inquire about how you guys made high Protein broths. I've tested a great homemade Bone Broth (using chunks of been bones as my dad is a meat cutter), but don't want to eat that all the time everyday. I found another recipe that calls for TrueNutrition Beff Isolate Protein, and Egg White Protein. Has anyone used that brand before? What about those specific types of Protein Powder? I've only used whey products to date.

Additionally, anyone have any recipes to share? I've tried the boxed versions they sell and they were not for me.

I didn't because many of the "bone Protein powders" are made primarily with hydrolyzed collagen and other Proteins that don't carry the full spectrum of 9 essential amino acids. The only 3 that my surgeon recognize and wants us on are: whey, egg, or soy.

But I used unflavored protein and added it to homemade Bone Broth. It tasted lovely and gave a break from the sweets!

You're so lucky to have a meat cutter in your fam!!

I found a variety of powdered bone broths at my local TJmaxx/Home goods that gave me a bunch of variety. That said don't kid yourself you are still going to be getting most of your Protein by choking down those damned shakes. Try cutting the shakes with unflavored protein or peanut powder if the shake flavor is complementary (I'm fond of banana Protein Shakes with the PB powder).

Add unflavored Protein mix to your broth. I get mine at GNC. GENEPRO micronized protein. It dissolves very easy because it's very fine.

The Protein Shakes are driving me crazy, I am going to go postal/Facebook soon. Do not buy vanilla flavored Premier Protein shakes. Trust mem

1/2 premier protein+decaf coffee 2x a day makes me happy :) I can live with with drinking 1 whole a day, but don’t want to do more than that if I don’t half to

Although I'm not a big vanilla fan, I used the Premier Protein vanilla instead of Creamer in my chai tea - delicious!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
