Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app My best advice is to be honest. This isn't something that will STOP you from having surgery. Its more to help you get through the reasons that you put on all the weight to begin with. For me personally, it was just life...i was raised eating bad foods and continued to do so my whole life. But for some people it was abuse...or a death...or what ever the case may be that caused them to turn to food. And they want to make sure that you have help for that becuase the surgery will not take those feelings away. Hope this helps!
That to This 10 Posted April 4, 2018 also... i dont know if yours will be any different....but my eval was 3 hours long~ it was basically just a stack of multiple choice questions...IQ test....things like that
Creekimp13 5,840 Posted April 4, 2018 There was no IQ test involved in my psych eval. Just a big profile of the same ten questions written 30 different ways that amounted to: Are you suicidal? Do you have compulsivity issues? Do you have issues with addictions? Do you have a history with mental illness? Do you treat your mental illness? How bad are your depression and anxiety? And YES, your psych eval can stop the surgery...if you ring the bell for certain conditions/behaviors. (happens VERY rarely) In the meeting with the psych....Mostly, they're going to ask you questions relating to the stability of your life. Are you financially stable? Do you have emotional support for the surgery? Are your relationships stable? Are you going through major life events? And why you're having the surgery. What are your expectations? What is your history with obesity? How is your diet going so far? Do you understand that the surgery won't fix the situation, and that you'll have to work hard on lifestyle changes? It's not a big deal. Be honest. Be positive. Don't overshare. Relax.
