Weight loss after 2 years post op..!!

Recommended Posts

I’m 2 years post Mini gastric bypass.. my weight loss was crazy at the beginning and we were all scared of me dropping below a healthy weight. But towards the end of year 1 my weight started to stabilize at a BMI of 22-23 and the amount of food I was able to eat was good.. things were good and Vitamins were in balance. However for the past 2 months I’ve started noticing that I’m unable to eat much. I don’t have pain while eating but I feel full on very small amounts (I.e 3-4 spoons of food) my weight started to dropp again which isn’t something I want and I’ve started feeling very sluggish .. my Iron levels and Vitamin B12 are still within normal range however my Vit D is very low and started taking extra vit D supplements.. I’m just wondering what could be the cause for not being able to eat well and also could a deficiency in Vit D cause me to feel sluggish or could it be something else??

Congrats on your success! My Vitamin D has always been suuuper low. It definitely makes you feel sluggish, tired and low energy. I'm always on extra Vitamin D supplements. Kinda stinks.

I'm still post op, but when it comes to eating, I believe you should be able to eat more than that! Have you talked to your doctor?

Congrats on your loss! That's a lovely BMI! Honestly? If you haven't changed a thing--not any food changes, or exercises/activity changes you MUST go see your surgeon/bariatric team about this. Cuz the possibilities are so endless and they will want to do testing!!! ((hugs))

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
