So I keep feeling like I'm doing something wrong.... I know I've been told "don't compare yourself to others" but it's so hard not to. I started this journey 10/24/17 my surgery weight was 232. I stalled when I was about 4 weeks out and was stalled for about 4 weeks.... I'm now 5 months out and just feel like I should weigh less than 190lbs. I again, haven't lost anything in the last two weeks. I eat very little carbs, 60-100g of Protein daily, Water is on point, and I increased my calories to 1,200cal daily bc I'm going to the gym anywhere from 2 to 4 times a week doing cardio and weight training (group classes). So many other people have lost 60lbs in like 17weeks post sleeve..... Am I just over thinking it? Am I a slow loser? Am I a healthy loser? Am I doing something wrong?

You've lost 42 pounds. That's amazing and I'm pretty sure that that puts you right in the middle of the bellcurve for 6 months out. Someone else here has a good chart for expected weight loss, and I belive for a female starting in the 225-250 range the expected weight loss 6 months out is 35-50 pounds. You aren't even six months out and you are already in the middle of that expected range.

Thank you! I'll have to look up that chart. I just see so many other people losing so much faster, I was just getting discouraged and frustrated. Lol

Everyone is different and sometime the stats you see here are misleading because they include any pre-surgery weight loss. So it tends to inflate the pounds lost in the same period of time. If you are tracking weight loss over time perhaps is better to look at it in terms of %lost vs absolute pounds, because it's easier to turn 300 into 250 than it is to turn 250 into 200 (and so on).

Each person will lose at different rates. But look at your photos! Even if pounds are not dropping inches are? Are you measuring yourself? This will give you another method of seeing change besides the scale!

Hi. In your pics I can definitely see the changes in your face and stomach from weight loss. Congratulations. You are doing just what you need to (protein, Water, exercise) and your weigh loss is continuing with the exception of stalls here and there. The amount of weight loss seems very good to me. You’re really not that far from your goal weight. Keep up the great work. 🏆

You also have less weight to lose than some of us. The less you have to lose, the slower it comes off - or so I've heard tell. I have to fight feeling discouraged every day because my goal seems impossibly far off. I feel better when I don't look at my goal at all. Just have to keep moving forward.

I also think a lot has to do with a few factors, like how much people lost on pre-op and how people are feeling. I have lost a good bit I went from 227 to 170 and I'm not even 8 weeks out. However, I haven't felt well most of the time and I have a hard time getting food down and getting the amount of Protein and fluids in. So honestly, I'm not sure it's healthy on my end. I'm scared that I will have a hard time keeping it off because of it. It sounds to me you are doing all the right things and are on the right path. Your hard work has paid off and you look amazing. I guess what I'm trying to say is we all have the worries, just in different ways. The great thing, is you have lost and kept it off and have toned your body at the same time. I wish my body looked as good as yours.. But because of not feeling good I haven't been able to exercise. Keep up the good work, and pat yourself on the back for how well you have come and are doing.

You and I have nearly identical weights. I weigh 232 today and just started my two week liquid diet (with one meal a day). My doctors have been very vocal about not comparing my weight loss to anyone else’s because we all lose differently. I might be a bit different than you in that I want to stop my weight loss around 160 pounds. I am 5’7 and I want to hold on to my curves. I also lift weights, so I know that will definitely play a role in losing inches faster than the number on the scale. You are doing just fine and the photos are all of the proof you need. Remember too that when you lose it a little bit slower, you have less chance for excess skin. That was a big issue for me because I am a teacher and you know...we are broke, lol.

Girl, you’re doing great! I totally hear you and it feels like it’s taking forever for me too and I’m always stalling but I’ve started measuring my success using different metrics: how long I can run for, how many squats, how weight I can lift. That gets me through the stalls!!

I started at 222lbs and currently at 167lbs at 8 months post op. 55 lbs in 8 months may not seem like a lot but you know what? Ive never been able to do this before and I feel freaking great! So I’ll take it!

We got this! [emoji1434]

You’re doing great. I was sleeved November 28, 2017. I’m down 86 pounds but I also had a near death experience cause of the flu. Everyone is different and everyone loses at their own pace. You got this! You can do this! You may have some stalls but you can get past it!

Thank you so much for the very kind words. And everyone here is right, I'm not far from my goal weight but it seems far and not fast enough, I just need to be patient I guess.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
