So wanted to post a small update. I'm now one week post-op and while I still have some mild discomforts at times, I've been feeling pretty good.

I have been struggling to get all of my fluids in. My surgeon wants me drinking 32oz a day of Water plus one 12oz shake broken down over the day. I haven't kept a solid water count, but I'm likely getting about 20oz or do and drinking half of the shake each day.

Despite these little issues, I'm doing really well. Down 13lbs since last Monday and I'm looking forward to returning to work on Wednesday.

If you're a week out and not drinking any more than that...you're going to end up in trouble with dehydration soon.

Please drink more Water. It's extremely irritating to have to visit an emergency room due to dehydration that could have been prevented.

For me the first week or so knorr bullion cubes diluted in hot water were my secret to getting enough fluids. People have different reactions to different temperatures so try different temperature things (even warm water). As other people have mentioned dehydration at this point can set you back (though you probably aren't in danger at this point).

I've kept myself satisfied, don't feel too thirsty overall. I should add I do have a cup of broth and a sugar free ice pop each day as well. So I guess my liquid intake is probably slightly higher overall.

I’m in the exact same boat as you. Down to the day and the amount of liquid you are taking in!
I’ve only lost 7lbs since surgery but I’m still holding onto a lot of Water. Looking forward to the end of the week!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
