Surgery Stories

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I had my surgery the 12th. All went well, they repaired my hiatel hernia at the same time. I was on demoral for pain as morphine makes me sick. I was on the IV for 2 days with antibiodics and also the leg compression thingys. I came home on Tuesday. in a bit of pain, but the liqued demeral they gave me works great. Gas pains are kjust that, a real pain, but slowly they are getting better, I was able to lay on my tummy and have hubby massage my back and when I got up it seemed to release some of the pressure. I have more trouble sleeping at night as I hate to sleep on my back, so I have a body pillow and I was able to last night lay with it against my tummy/body and sleep better.

All in all this surgery wasn't so bad, I was scared. But my hysterectomy last year was WAYYYYY worse.

Good luck everyone

Hi, ladies. I only have enough energy in me to drop in and say "hi," I made it. I'm keeping ahead of the pain using the vicodin and it's working like a charm - just making me weak. I'll try to give a story tomorrow.

Nessa, I am in Amite, Louisiana being banded in Covington by Dr. Reddmon. I go to seminar Tuesday and to Dr. Reddmon Thursday. Let me know how they do things there and where and what to expect please. Did you have insurance? Mine is State Group and does not cover. Cash $18,650.00 Nanaislosingit

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
