Question!!!! I’m getting the sleeve May 14th. May 20th is hubbys birthday and we want to go upstate to a comic con. How will I feel? Will I be ok to go there and walk around? 2-3 hour drive and I would be driving because he makes me sick driving!

By that point post op it heavily depends on your tolerance of pain and your energy levels

If you have zero complications and a high threshold for pain you will be fine just maybe a little nauseous and very tired.

You may want to consider letting your husband drive so that you'll have enough energy for the event

I was wiped out all there at that point because of the amount of energy y body needed to heal plus the deficit caused by the restricted diet , I could only drive for about 10 mins at a time before i felt like I needed a nap.

Enjoy Comicon! I hope the Firefly panel is there ...

My pain wasn’t bad by that point after surgery but I was very tired. I went on multiple short walks a day, but could not handle walking around for long periods. The incisions were still sensitive, so at times I wore my binder to help give support.

Just be careful with driving and being on pain meds. Most doctors advise that you do not drive while taking heavy pain meds (if you are during that time). Most give the meds for 1 week

I could not have done that. I felt seriously unwell the first month. Acid reflux, no sleeping, no energy, nausea etc. Other people can bounce out of hospital and return to work the next day!

being sleeved in around 6 weeks - hope all goes well, with a very speedy, healthy recovery

"we're all different" famous common words by many WL peeps

i was never as tired as many OP are, and more tired than some LOL

i've read on the board that saw peep have one day surgery in Mexico

(or state side too) and they are up and around shopping and stuff.

you'll be one week PO - you prob won't be doing jumping jacks - but

going on this short trip sounds ok to me. you have my permission to go

- LOL- take a nap while DH is driving.

you should be able to tolerate his driving "this" time. close your eyes

and sleep. of course if you feel rotten - don't go - disregard everything

i said above. except what i just said now:lol:

take care

kathy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
