Any MAY sleevers???

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I was sleeved 3 weeks ago today. I'm down 15 pounds since surgery.

My energy level is not great. I went back to work yesterday, and had to take the day off today! I'm exhausted!

But so far I have no regrets. Surgery went well, with no major complications.

My new stomach has tolerated everything I've given it so far. I probably have been blending/overlapping the eating phases. When I was on liquids I don't think I was making my foods as soupy as I probably should have. And now that I'm on pureed, some of my foods are probably more like "soft foods," which is the next phase for me.

But Constipation does seem to be my new companion. I started taking Metamucil, hopefully that'll help.

about 19 days out and feeling great 👍 the weight isn’t coming off as fast as I’d like but I’m still working on it ! I had to give away more than half of my closet because the cloths were too big and I feel great !!!

Your stomache is still swollen. It takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks for swelling to go down. Keep walking and doing cardio. I looked exactly the same for the first 4 weeks just now people and my family are noticing a difference. Lol

Ahhh that would explain a lot ! I’m doing my walking and light cardio I’m happy with the results so far but I know once this swelling goes down that it’ll be better

thank you so much for the advice !

For those of you struggling with low energy are you tracking your calories and macros? I ensure I am getting 600 to 800 calories a day, my Water intake is good (plus electrolytes) and my Vitamins are on point. 6 days out of 7 I feel amazing and feel like I have way more energy than before (knock on wood). I definitely notice my energy is low when I am consuming less then 600 calories. Plus increasing my calories I think is what broke my stall!

I am definitely not hitting my liquid target. I drink between 20 oz to 45 oz on a very good day. I definitely eat more calories than I should too. I am almost 3 weeks post op and I likely eat about 700 to 900 cals per day. On top of my Vitamins but right now only doing about 65 g of Protein Powder

How are you getting all the calories in? I can't seem to get more than 450 and I'm exhausted all the time. But my stomach hurts every time I eat and I have a lot of restriction. I think I'd feel better with more calories. Can you give an example of what your food intake is like in a day?

How many days are you out? 450 calories is dangerously low...I’m 6 weeks out and can eat about 800 - 900 calories And I do spin classes. I need the energy to do high level cardio otherwise I’d pass out

I'm just over 6 weeks out. Saw my nutritionist yesterday and asked her how many calories I should be getting and she said the 450/day was fine. The only limits she gave were to stay under 50 grams of carbs and hit my Protein goal. I don't see how I can get in more calories at this point and still follow my doctor's plan. I'm not meeting my protein goal so I know that's contributing to my fatigue.

Hey! Other than the fluids, you’re doing ok. 3 weeks is early to be able to get that many calories in, but according to my plan, I’m supposed to get 700-900 calories a day, at least 64 oz of Fluid a day (which is HARD and has only happened to me a couple times) and 70-90 grams of Protein with under 100g of carbs. My NUT would probably tell you to work on fluid before food though. And just from personal experience, the days I drink more fluid, the greater my weight loss is later in the week. Could just be coincidence, but I’m just throwing it out there. :) Is just say get to sipping and make sure you don’t go over 900 calories and you should be ok.
I should mention I had the sleeve so if you had bypass or switch your plan could be way different.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
