amsandlin 3 Posted May 18, 2018 The pre op diet was the worst!! Now at the clear liquid stage it’s not quite as bad. sugar free popsicles and broth I can do for a week. I am having having a difficult time getting in all my Protein and Water so I’m working on that now.

Have you started on any "soft" solids yet? Please tell me you have and its a dream...I never realized until I had surgery, TV commercials is overly saturated with food driven marketing. I hate it. Im also getting real tired of this liquid diet too.. Just fyi, theres a great high Protein, very low sugar Ice cream brand called "Enlightened Ice cream"...Its devine! I picked birthday cake at our local Sprouts market...Just fantastic. Its basically a Protein Shake in the form of ice cream but man it hits the spot. Birthday cake didnt have any chunks in it but only sprinkles that melts in your mouth so it was perfect. No soft foods yet, lol, still on liquids. My next appointment is on Thursday and hopefully they'll okay me to move on to puree then! 1 Arwyn reacted to this
dede1118 26 Posted May 19, 2018 So I had surgery on May 15th! The day of surgery I was so excited that the day had finally come. I tried to take in the moment and remember as much as possible. Let me tell you as soon as that anesthesia is given to you it is LIGHTS OUT! The next thing I remember is waking up in pain, my throat was super sore and irritated (that didn't last long for me that pain was gone the same day). Then I knocked out again and when I did wake up I was already in my private room. My husband was amazing and super supportive and was like my own personal nurse helping me get out of the hospital bed to use the RR. The day after surgery I was able to drink Water but honestly did not want to. Days 1 and 2 were the worst. Mostly just pain and GAS PAINS( walking really helps)! I'm 3 days post op today and I honestly feel so great. No need for any pain meds and the incision sites themselves are just a bit sore. I'm drinking primer Protein Shakes, broth and crystal light. Tomorrow I'll try Jello but my main focus is the Protein shakes. I go back to work on Wednesday and I feel completely okay to (desk job). Anyway that has been my experience so far. I hope everyone is doing well. And for those still waiting on surgery let me tell you it gets better. Just remind yourself that the the pain is only temporary. 2 CleaClo and Taoz reacted to this

I didn’t have very bad gas pains- a couple in the chest but they went away soon. How much are you eating? I’m between 1-2oz every 3 hours. Mainly sticking to Protein and focusing on getting in Water, but both have been hard to get all. My stomach likes to gurgle and i burp quite a bit. I usually take it as I am full. I don’t really feel hungry or full. 1 dede1118 reacted to this
Nebby89 3 Posted May 19, 2018 I had surgery on May 3. I'm now 2 weeks and 1 day post op. I was cleared to start pureed foods yesterday. I've lost 24 lbs since surgery. I'm still really not hungry but my stomach tries to trick me as well as my head. So far, I'm able to keep down everything. It's still really hard to drink as much as I'm supposed to. It takes about 2 hours to drink a Protein Shake. I've noticed that I have to have my drinks ice cold or my sleeve doesn't like it much.

My next appointment is next Friday...I am praying I can move on to soft foods. I know food should be off our minds, but I want to eat "healthy" solids and start doing all these bariatric friendly receipes...Im really excited about eating dehydated Fava Beans. Gosh, who gets excited about that? Only people on a liquid diet that just had bariatric surgery because its like a step up from liquids..lol 6 HopefullXOXOXO, debbie89, Taoz and 3 others reacted to this

How many days are you out now and how are your incisions? I was two weeks out and my surgeon told me to do it. Before that, I didn't touch them. I was afraid I'd open the wounds. By two weeks out the glue was curling up at the ends and ready to come off. My surgeon looked at the incisions and just said "you need to get in the shower and remove the glue." So I did it. As long as I'm peeing I take it that I'm getting enough fluids. The Protein I am tracking and so far today I've had about 30 grams of my 60-80 goal. I am burping as well and the gurgling was non stop until today. There are time when I sip and I feel this tightness in my tummy as the Fluid goes down. Its not all the time but I stop for about 15 to 20 minutes until I try sipping again. This may be TMI but I have gone #2 maybe like 4 times already and its been very watery. My incisions are starting to itch today as well (No drainage). I also have been cooking for my daughter and husband and it made me a little sad that I couldn't eat lol I have to keep reminding myself that this liquids stage is only temporary. 1 superthin reacted to this
amsandlin 3 Posted May 19, 2018 I’m still gurgling and burping quite a bit. Trying to track my liquids but I’m quite sure that I’m not at 64oz. Protein........yeah that’s been another challenge. I am soooooo sick of Protein Shakes that I have to gag them down so it’s about half the Protein. I’m good with my Vitamins. And as far as #2 it hasn’t happened yet. Last time was a week ago but that’s actually normal for me so I’m not concerned about that.
Nessapuddin71 5 Posted May 19, 2018 What about protein02. It is Protein infused Water. Not bad tasting if cold. It has 15g of protein. It will help you get water and protein down. 2 dede1118 and amsandlin reacted to this

Every time I put something in my stomach that isn't Water it gurgles like crazy and I burp the whole time I'm eating. Really annoying because it makes me not want to eat. And I'm with you on the Protein Shakes. So far the most Protein I've gotten down has been 30 grams. I know that's not enough, I just have a really hard time doing more. I start pureed foods Monday so I'm hoping I'll be able to get more protein in that way. A scrambled egg has never sounded so good! 1 superthin reacted to this
amsandlin 3 Posted May 20, 2018 I can’t WAIT for a flipping scrambled egg!!!!! How long before you were cleared to the purée stage? I have my week post op visit on Monday. Fingers crossed!!
curvylady 49 Posted May 20, 2018 My BFF told my husband and I about Water like Protein Drinks that can be purchased at The Vitamin Shoppe that have 40 grams of Protein. We tried two flavors today and they were soooo much better than the flavored shakes. I think that they are called Isopure. Expensive but worth it if you can’t take another shake. I’m already planning my soft food menu for this week...crustless quiche made with egg beaters, reduced fat cheese and cooked then pulverized turkey bacon, mushrooms, spinach and broccoli. I made this for my hubby when he went through the soft food phase last month and it was incredible! Our kids loved it and had it everyday too. Also a taco dish made from ground turkey, fat free retried Beans, taco sauce and reduced fat cheese. Has as anyone checked their weight loss yet? I’m down 9 lbs since surgery Monday. It’s CRAZY!! 1 Taoz reacted to this

I’m headed to Amazon right now and looking up these drinks. I seriously don’t think I can choke down one more shake. I was on 5 shakes a day for the week before surgery and that’s all. Nothing else so I’m done with them!!! Thanks for the suggestion!!! And you may have to send me some quiche!😜 1 Arwyn reacted to this
