Craving a sandwich/wrap

Recommended Posts

I make my chicken/turkey salad with Greek yogurt instead of mayo now (not as creamy, but still good!) with chopped celery and dried cranberries. Yumm

I'm 6.5 weeks out from surgery, and I'm desperately craving a sandwich or wrap or something of the like. Just eating the cold cuts/cheese or chicken salad or whatever isn't cutting it.

I don't currently have any food restrictions from my team (I'm allowed to try whatever I want in small amounts), just whatever my body decides is a no-go, but it's already rejected 100% whole wheat toast, so I'm terrified what it would do with soft bread. Would a wheat or spinach tortilla be a better option? What about a FlatOut wrap (well, part of one, since they're large)?

I haven't tried any of the above yet because I'm leery of dumping again like I did after just two tiny bites of the toast, but I'm not sure if there's a better way to get over and/or satisfy the craving.

Have you tried flat bread? Flat Out brand has some choices that offer generous Protein values. I can't eat a whole one, so I cut it in half for a wrap. The multigrain has 100 calories, 9 grams of protein per wrap.

Yep, I just bought some FlatOut Light wraps yesterday (loved them before surgery) and used half of one to make a chicken salad wrap. It was delicious, even though I couldn't finish it, and the wrap sat well in my stomach, thankfully.

I am so nauseous today that if nothing looks even good. It's been a struggle to get even my basic liquids. Well, what do they say? This too shall pass.

And hopefully it will pass quickly! I am so lucky to have not had any real nausea outside of the couple times I've dumped.

Have you tried lettuce as a wrap alternative ? People seem to love it
Also in the early stages of post op I came up with a biscuit alternative made from home made oat flour and Protein Powder worked well as a burger bun
DM me if you want the recipe IMG_5031.JPG

I don't know how to DM you on this app but can I PLEASE have this recipe it looks like dinner for me. 👍🏽😉

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
