ThatgirlEmLo 20 Posted March 29, 2018 Hey WLS peeps! Hope everyone is doing great! Surgery was 3/26. Doing well so far, down 5lbs. Tolerating Clear Liquids well, my blood sugars have been manageable, pains manageable. I havent done Protein Shakes yet. Some of my papers say to start 3 days after surgery. I just ordered some Isopure plain Protein Powder. I have Orgain powder but I really prefer the premixed drinks like premier shakes better. Should I be trying to get my Protein in now? Its so much liquid! I have a lot of energy earlier in the day and then I get mild pain later on. By the way thank you everyone for your advice and kind words before surgery! If I didn't get to answer anyone i am so sorry I am still getting used to this app plus my new lifestyle. Hope everyone is doing great! Looking forward to hearing from you all!-Emily

Colleen M. 3 Posted March 30, 2018 Hey, I’m in the same boat as you! My surgery was on the 27th. For me at least, I only just began sipping the Premier Protein drinks last night. My biggest issue was the fact that my esophagus and throat were too swollen to comfortably swallow much of anything. Event the Unjury chicken Soup was difficult. I existed on ice chips. But waking up on day 3 post-op, everything feels a lot less swollen. Now I feel like I can shift my focus from just getting Water into my system to trying to get as much Protein as possible and work on my Vitamins. Do you feel like you have to burp after each sip of whatever you drink? That’s been the most uncomfortable part of drinking for me. 1 ThatgirlEmLo reacted to this
frust8 963 Posted March 30, 2018 You might still have residual gulping left, just let it gently trickle down for a while. That is going to be one of my own trials to overcome I have been a bolter/gulper from the word go. You are and probably will be, I guess a week or so, swollen in there.I haven't had this surgery but I have had others with endo- trachael tubes, better than dying but there will be moments where you just wonder! Sending love and a virtual hug, cause a real one would still hurt [emoji14][emoji173][emoji14]Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app 1 ThatgirlEmLo reacted to this

Day 4 I today and its gotten better with the occasional burp and force. Yesterday was a good and bad day I went from having so much energy and spunk to feeling my incicision pain and thinking I wanted food to finally feeling full and satisfied. Its all in our minds. Keep taking it one sip at a time and sometimes if you get stuck get up and walk around a little, it wiggles its way down. My plain protein is supposed to come today hoping that will help me get my protein in more by mixing it with G2 (Grape has been my favorite) I could go on for hours [emoji1]..So thankful for this site and knowing I'm not alone! We got this girl! Keep me posted!
