Anyone N-W Ohio area ?

Recommended Posts

And I'm in Central Ohio, 14 miles from Centerburg, the Geographic Center of Ohio and going to Columbus for my surgery. D Roseman is in your area, probably still active, she lives either in or close to Bowling Green. Other Buckeyes still active that I know of are in Zanesville and Dayton and possibly a couple around West Chester, the home,of John Boehner, former US Speaker of the House. Hokay, I admit it, I'm a bit of a political junkie and I know a lot of useless junk about Ohio. Hopefully. I will also be a May Maiden, kinda uncertain right now. Long story, my path to surgery has been, kind of bumpy. But I shall overcome, prevail, whatever term you, like, as Bobby McFerrin's. Song said "ain't nothing gonna break-a my stride, ain't nothing gonna slow me down. Oh no, going to keep on moving!" I shall and will get that surgery. I am stubborn, red headed and can be strident,if necessary. If I leave this life it will be kicking and screaming, I will not gentle go into that good night or fade away![emoji14]PS I'm also 72 and a future RnY.

Definitely excited, a friend just had her surgery a few days ago and I've been talking to her a lot about it all... Nervous, which is to be expected but definitely excited to get the surgery part over and be healed and working on my new tummy... And of course I know where Sandusky is with cedar point and all... And you live in Ohio's largest county where there are still many covered bridges, the Bridges of Madison County Iowa have nothing on you. Pymantuning Lake is shared between you and NW Pennsylvania, and you have Lake Erie to love just like Sandusky [emoji569]but it's deeper at your end. You may have kinfolk across the state line into the Keystone State but you're still Buckeyes down deep. Have I got it pretty straight Ms Connie?[emoji106]

I don't have a date yet, it all pivots on my psychology appointment with OSU staff psychologist Dr Kramer on April 25th. After that I believe it will scheduled[emoji414] in May?[emoji13] I entertain no thoughts except favorable this time[emoji106]. I think I can see the lights [emoji93]of victory ahead and it is not a mirage. I have worked so hard, done so much, I cannot and will not allow it to be wrenched out of my grasp again[emoji20]. Victory and Power to the RnY Princess[emoji126] of Truth and Valour for I believe it to be ME![emoji123]

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
