Is my progress enough?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 11/8/17 and have lost 75lbs so far...

30lbs since 1.3.18....I exercise 5-6 times a week (mostly strength training) Eat 800-1100 calories a day, stay away from sugar of all kinds and carbs,

I've gone from a tight 24 and 3x to a loose 16 and XL....

Am I losing at a normal rate? 30lbs in almost 4 months-which is better than anything else I have ever done, but should it be more?

But mentally I feel like something happened...have I done enough? Should I be losing more weight? is 30lbs since 1.3.18 enough...ugh. This journey is definitely a physical AND MENTAL one....anyone else feeling this way? Or did? what did you do?

30 lbs in 12 weeks!! I think that is fabulous! That equates to 2.5 lbs/week!

I think the bottom line is that you are losing!! I would say....Keep up the good work!!

It is a mental challenge. Keep the thoughts positive. Hard? Yes!! Impossible? No! As they always say....If it were easy........ :)

There is no proper rate or progress chart you should be comparing yourself to and you certainly shouldn't compare yourself to anyone else. Everybody has a different metabolism, eats differently, exercises differently and so on. Let your doctor be the one to judge if you're losing at the proper rate for you.

But if you want a totally non-professional opinion, being down 75lb since surgery in early November is exceptional and I'd assume those are better results than most people will ever see.

You have our validation. You are on point with exercise, calorie intake, no sugar and carbs. Don't worry about the speed/rate of weight loss. You are doing enough to get yourself to gaol.:1310_thumbsup_tone1:

I feel the same way at times. Seems like I’m losing so slowly but it’s still early for me yet. As for you the numbers look great! Keep it up. I hope I’m down 75 in the amount of time it took you.

Yep 2.5 lbs per week falls into the range of 2-4lbs/on average per week. So there ya have it. Plus you are probably replacing some of your fat losses with subsequent lean gains too. So I would think you're ahead of the curve.

My RD said, that slow losers up front will usually settle down and at the end of 1 year to 2 years, slow and fast losers end up around the same place.

I wonder the same thing too.. but then I remember I can’t compare my self to others .. this is my own body.. and I am seeing changes .. so I just embrace it and keep going.

WOW, WOW. Kudos to you. You are doing fine. I was sleeved Dec.27 and I have only lost 20lbs. I try not to compare my weight loss to others as I have dropped several inches. I'm wearing a pair of pants today that 6 months I could barely pull up and was super tight across my stomach. Today, slid them on with no problem. I walk up to 5 miles a day 5 days a week with strength training 3 days a week. We are entering our slower season with my job so I will have more time to dedicate to my workouts. I just hope to be down another 20 at least by my 6 months check up

Thank you! I keep trying to tell myself that...If I'm losing then I'm good...just sometimes get in my own way with thinking positively..

That's exactly what I did! Google, how much weight I should be losing after sleeve surgery...well apparently I "should" be at around 200lbs...Well crap, I'm 40lbs behind...but your right. My body, my food, my exercising, my mental state, are different from everyone else. As long as I'm losing and making healthy choices (and I feel AMAZING!!!) then I'm on the right track.

I have got to find a way to charge for all this great advice I'm giving...

Well like the head guy at Norman Marcus said "If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it!"
Elforman you are a treasure beyond price, we couldn't afford you if you charged![emoji13]

I feel like my weight loss has stopped at 7 months out. I feel like I will not lose anymore than the 100 pounds I have lost already. I am pretty bummed about the whole thing. I have been eating right all week and the scale is going up and not down. I must admit I have not exercised a single bit since surgery, I know I need to but cannot get motivated to do so.

Congratulations on your weight loss. This is fantastic!

1-2 pounds a week is what you want to lose. Its healthy and means you are not going slow, or too fast. Slow or fast means danger. 1-2 pounds a week is what I average. There will be times you hit stalls (plateaus) and will think you failed or ate the wrong thing, but the stalls are normal too. Keep up the exercising and stay eating a healthy plan with a lot of Protein and you will do perfectly fine.

Its normal for us to doubt I think. God knows I have often thought in a moment of weakness, "Oh no, I just ate this or this, and now I wont lose" or I panic if the pounds dont go down in what I consider to be a timely fashion. All very normal. You really are doing wonderfully. But they do, and will.

Also bigger people will lose weight at a much faster rate than people who say, started at 250. I started at 381 and in 11 months am down to a pound loss of 129. The closer to my goal I get, the slower the weight loss will be. The last twenty pounds I will do on my own. Its very normal for a person who weighs less to lose less than a larger, so never compare (not saying you do but for others reading) and just be proud of what you have accomplished. You'll feel so much better :) And, you are doing an amazing job.

I was sleeved the week after you (11/13} and my numbers are very similar (70 is pounds since then) and my weight loss has certainly come to a trickle at this point.

I don't have much left to lose, but things slow down enormously. I think 75 pounds since November is great, but more importantly is which direction you're trending

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
