Liver, UGH

Recommended Posts

Having had my blood work done at 6 months out it was determined that I am a bit low on Vitamin B 12. I thought I'd just add sources to my diet instead of taking a supplement.

I went to foodtv.com found a recipe, went to Whole Foods, bought some liver, cooked it up all like I was told.

Took a bight and immediately thought is tastes like a dirty barn smells. But the second bight wasn't too bad.

I didn't realize I was hurrying it up in my mouth.

By the third bight I knew it was all going to come back up.

OH For the love of god, this is horrible.

This is the worst PB to date. I write in present tense because as soon as I think I am done, there is more. It's like an informercial, "No wait, there's more."

The lesson to take away from this LIVER=BAD.

I had never eatten liver when I was a kid because my parents hated it. When I had my first job as a salid girl in a 5 star resturant the chef Ali made liver and he told me to taste it to see if it was seasoned properly. when I told him I had never had liver before he told me to try it. If I didnt like it I could spit it out. I think it was so tasty. and from then on I loved liver...if it was cooked properly. My grandparents have a tendency to over cook it and make it dry or chewy. chewy meat= bad

Yeah, I've worked as a chef and it was cooked fine. It was absolutely not over done.

It's a texture/band thing I believe for me.

My co-workers were digging it. I still work in a kitchen, hence being able to cook liver in the middle of my day...

I have always hated the texture of liver, and if I take a bite of something that has a similar texture, I start gagging. Oh, and the smell... I'm almost gagging just thinking about it.

My step-mom made beef stew once....she used liver in it. I knew it was liver the second I stepped in the door, and she insisted it was not. I went hungry that night, there was no way I was going to eat that, she finally 'fessed up the next day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
