SCARED and CONFUSED. Please help!!

Recommended Posts

I have been looking into this procedure for a year and a half now. My fiance and I are finally prepared to do it!

We are looking into getting it done in Mexico. I have contacted 4 offices.

Aceves, Ortiz, Gonzalez and Lopez-Corvala.

I'd appreciate any suggestions, opinions, experiences. Please:help:.

Hello,

This is my 1st post, I've been lurking for awhile:ranger:

I too have been in contact with a couple of these Dr.s from Mexico. I am leaning toward Lopez-Corvala, because Belite (the facilitator) really puts everything together for you. But I haven't heard enough about him here on Lapbandtalk. I really would like to hear from some of his patients, so anyone out there who knows anything...please feel free to respond I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much.

:(

Lisa

Hello everybody!!!

We've decided on DR ACEVES. My fiance is very excited. I, on the other hand, am quite nervous. Have never undergone surgery and Im mostly scared about the anesthesia.

Any comforting words???? :D

Hello everybody!!!

Any comforting words???? :D

The surgery isnt bad at all. They will have you walking the same afternoon and usually on the way home in 1-2 days. Be sure to rest as needed once home, but walk when you can. It really does help get rid of the gas pain that you may have from the surgery. I found that sleeping in a recliner really helped too. Easier to get back up when you need to. Follow your dr'spost-op diet very closely and you will see some amazing results. Good luck....Dave

I was banded on 9/20/07 by Dr. Ortiz. Great experience and no complaints.

I had my 1st fill yesterday...again...a seamless experience. I am happy I chose to have him do my surgery.

miller: Thats fantastic!

We chose Aceves not only for his great credentials but also because of the consistency and immediate response I got from his patient coordinator, Nina.

Good luck to everyone and good luck to me!!! :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
