Today marks 2 weeks on purée foods and am supposed to transition to soft foods tomorrow, which is 4 weeks post op. I had a nutrition class for purée but they did not go over what soft foods we can have. Just looking for some ideas please!

Start with stuff you like and chew. I'm still supposed to be on puree, but doctor gave me the go ahead to try pretty much whatever I like and I haven't had any issues so long as I chew it well (I love pickles). That said I think soft foods is pretty much anything that is easily chewed, cooked vegatables, fish, chicken, etc. You probably want to avoid beef Jerky.

I also love pickles and have been craving them very badly. I’m not sure about what meats I can have, fruits, veggies etc. I’m assuming as long as they are soft or steamed then I’m ok.

My doctor has kind of a Laissez-faire attitude, he said by three weeks out the worst any food can do to you is make you want to puke it up, so start really slow and stop if anything gives you problems. I like egg whites so i do eat them a lot for supplemental Protein, but I've been slowly trying new meats. I've had mahi mahi, tuna (salad), grilled chicken, chicken sausage, and turkey bacon so far. I'm not a huge steak person, so I haven't tried, but I would think that would be on the list of things to hold off on until you are more comfortable. I'm going to have some sushi/sashimi for dinner tonight to see how that goes.

Trader Joe's has these spicy pickle chips that are great.

I have tried tuna fish mixed with some mustard. I did fine with it. It’s the only meat that I have tried so far. I have had eggs and did ok with those as well. I would really like some soft vegetables and fruits.

The general rule is you should be able to smoosh the meat with a fork, like juicy chicken.

At 3 weeks I started traveling for work. The first week was hosted meetings with family style meals. I ate so many kinds of Protein, steak, multiple types of fish (raw & cooked), shellfish, chicken, pork tenderloin, pork ribs, turkey, duck. Everything did, and still does go down just fine!

I was. My Dr. was grudgingly ok with it, understanding my work and travel schedule. I'm not saying it's for everyone, but I was absolutely fine with it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
