Not really feeling food...Pureed stage

Recommended Posts

I had the gastric bypass. I'm on the pureed stage and I'm totally not feeling food. All I want is popsicles and ice cubes. I have one egg in the morning and after that I'm pretty much over it. I have my Isopure Protein Drinks but ice cube form. Can you guys give me some ideas what to try. I really only like chicken and sausage no other kind of meat.< /p>

I’ve been exactly the same. Just can’t do the purée. I’ve been sticking with yogurt, cottage cheese and popsicles. I’m almost one month post op. Wednesday is 4 weeks and I’m hoping I’ll be more motivated during soft stage.

You can add unflavored Protein mix to anything you pureed or eat to bump up protein.

Enjoy it while it lasts guys. The feeling of non-hunger only lasts for 3-4 months. I know it’s frustrating right now but soon enough you’ll look back fondly to the days you could survive off Protein Shakes & ice. I know I do!

My best friends during the purée stage were the ricotta bake and sugar free pudding and apple sauce. I wasn’t allowed meat until 6-7 weeks into it and only soft pulled meats at best

Question is having popsicles considered eating or just getting in liquids? Like would it be okay to eat ice or the Protein Drink cubes I made or to even have sips of Water?

eggs can feel pretty bulky during puree, they were tasty but did not great in my stomach after I'd swallowed. tuna was pretty good (I put greek yogurt and milk in mine to thin it down). I also ate blended lentil Soup, and you can also try a small amount of cream of wheat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
