Feeling regretful, help

Recommended Posts

Hi Cher,
You are not Debbie Downer, and please know your post helps me (I’m scheduled for gastric sleeve end of May). I spend a lot of time reading posts from people who have recently had surgery. You are preparing me. I hope it gets better for you quickly! I know you will be glad you did this in the months and years to come. After reading this, I decided to write myself a letter- to my post gastric sleeve self. I’m going to detail my life journey of the weight roller coaster, how I feel when I struggle with losing weight every day of my life, and what it’s like always being the biggest person in the room, unable to do certain things because there is a weight limit, I’m too big, or my joints and back hurt. I’m only 45, but I’ve struggled with my weight for 35 years. Even what should be a simple task of finding an outfit for a wedding or a work function is a depressing huge nightmare of a task. After my surgery, I know I’ll have days and thoughts you are having and I’ll read my letter, and I hope it helps me. Sorry for the long winded post, but please know you are helping others and we support you! Sending good thoughts your way!

Hi Katherine,
That is a really good idea on your end. I had a really good day yesterday. Reach out for support, my family on here has really helped. I guess a way to look at it is that it took me years to get to where I am in regards to weight and there is absolutely no easy way out and this is just part of the process. Can’t wait to continue to ready abt your journey as well.

Thank you for your post I appreciate it :)

Hey all! I’m new here, 7 days post op from sleeve. I’m advanced today to the purée stage and I also am emotional and at time regretful so you are not alone at all. Your post helped me to realize ppl are feeling similar. I have cried every day since surgery but praying and keeping faith that it does get better. Hang in there!

Hello,
I have felt so much better once the pain subsided. We just need to relearn our stomach. I realized I just can’t have anything with lactose (whey) in it. Once I switched to whey isolate products and able to get my Protein and Vitamins in life has been getting better. This is how I imagined it, limited with food but ok since it was expected, I just wasn’t expecting the pain associated with it and as cliche as it sounds like u said it does get better, this is part of the process.
Good luck we will get through this together :)

You mentioned in different posts that you thought you could just have smaller amounts of food and you are releaning. You should not be having food right now. You should be on a liquid diet of Protein suppliement/drinks. Then you move onto pureed and moist food.

What stage does your doctor have you in right now?

Yes meaning I didn’t know I was going to be lactose intolerant, not eating right now but because I wasn’t lactose intolerant now I know I have to relearn what I can and can’t eat. My understanding before surgery is that I would eat a lot less and nothing high in sugar and fat, not necessarily keep away from dairy but yes u r right I’m not eating Now just wondering what other surprises I will have in store which is making me afraid when I do get to eventually eat.

I'm only six weeks out but I'm learning some things very quickly- thought I was doing really well and would be one of the lucky ones with no problems until i ate 2 well chewed shrimp and felt worse that I've ever felt. Shrimp used to be a favorite... oh well it really is a learning curve!

When we were talking about seafood that I can eat now, my nutritionist called out shrimp in particular as the devil. Apparently very dense, the size of them makes you think you should be able to eat the whole thing (and encourages to you ignore warnings from your stomach), and it tends to land in your stomach like a rock.

I don't really eat seafood, but it stuck out to me how vehement she was about shrimp!

I too am 10 days post op. I am having trouble getting in all my Protein and Water also. I was doing the chewable vitamins twice a day, now they are so tart that I gag. I ordered the vitamin patches to get me through this. So do your best and try things that work for you. Unsweetened Jello and popsicles are my best friends right now. Hang in there , it does get better!👍

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
