I'm another one who thought the surgery was fairly easy and ditto recovery. The worst issue I had was low energy for about the first month, not to mention kind of hating Protein Shakes and the liquid/pureed/slushy stages. Once I could eat tiny amounts of real food, though . . . it's all good. Just repeat after me: Protein, protein, protein!

You'll be good and will love the weight loss (especially the first month).

The number one thing I learned from this site that really helped me was about stalls. No one at my doctor's office said anything about them, but if you know that they will happen AND they will pass, you'll be much better able to cope.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! It really does help to hear this.

Hi All,

My surgery is April 2nd and I'm getting pretty petrified. Wondering if I'm doing the right thing, scared it will fail, afraid of freaking my kids out when I tell them this week, scared of recovery, scared of not being able to eat food, just f**king scared, y'all!

I had Lap Band surgery in 2007 but I don't remember being this scared.

Someone help me remember why I'm doing this and tell me how you got through the scared part.

Ever so grateful in advance...

OMG! I was thinking the exact same thing this morning. So glad to see your post. I had the band in 2005, out in 2010. My sleeve surgery is scheduled for 4/10 and the reality of my decision is hitting me hard today.

Logically, I know this is for the best. Emotionally, I feel like a wreck today. It could be a combination of having to start that 14d pre-op liquid diet and the fact I'm less than 2 weeks away now.

Then we’ll hold each other up! I went for my surgery clearance appointment today at the hospital. It got real.

Ok, y’all. It’s done. Surgery was at 2, came home at around 7. I snoozed for a few hours and didn’t take pain meds so now I’m awake waiting for the Tylenol, gabapentin and Celebrex to do its magic.

Lots of gas pain and an occasional hurty place where my new, smaller stomach is.

Must stay ahead of the pain with the meds!

Hey! No need! You won't be scared when you step on that scale and at a healthy weight! You won't be scared when you're physically able to do things with your kids you weren't able to do because of your weight! You won't be scared when you're in the BEST SHAPE AND HEALTH! Trust me you won't be scared then!!! As for now, calm down, don't think too much about it. It's really not that bad! I know many people who have done it and just report soreness like there done 1000 sit-ups.

Keep your head high and you will be just fine!

Btw I removed my band in Nov and have my Sleeve scheduled for May 2nd!

@LCroft

hi Tex

Woo Hoo

did, done, over!!

see, it wasn't that bad!!

good for you that you are staying on top of things

with your meds - hopefully you won't be needing

them too much longer

you know the drill - drink and drink some more.

at this early stage in the game - you don't want to

risk becoming dehydrated.:(

good luck

kathy

Hey stupid question bothering me. I'm sure they give the excised stomachs to pathology so they can check and make sure there was no cancer or other bad dudes lurking in there, but then do they use them for anything else or just incinerate them? Just quizzical, you know.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
