Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon ladies, question. Are your menstrual cramps worst after surgery? My surgery date was 3/13, 12 days post op. I feel like I'm in my death bed, I'm also experiencing lack of energy my body feels so tired. What are some of your experiences post op? And how did you deal with them?

Unreal! I never had pain menstruating before surgery and my first cycle was excruciating. The cramping was so strong. And the weakness...just wiped me out

Eat more foods containing it, liver if you like it, is one of the best. Try to also to get in Orange juice or other citrus , the Vitamin C helps your body with assimilation. Most any food list should tell you what else has a high %of Iron. I think beets are also pretty good[emoji12]

Sounds great but I'm still at the early stages of my surgery (puree foods). No fruits as of yet.

If you are not able to take Iron pills, years ago I had to take I think Ferrous Gluconate, not tiny pills but maybe they have smaller ones these days. Worst case: iron injections, whoeee those aren't fun but you do what you have to do to get and stay healthy[emoji7]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
