4 days, stomach growls, hungry

Recommended Posts

My instructions are sip 64 ounces Water, about 70-80 oz Protein through liquids/yogurt/shakes. And sip the protein every 2-3 hours in "meals" stopping water before and after protein for 15-30 minutes.

I am not exactly on the 2-3 hours, but I am reaching the protein and total water. But, my stomach still growls and I do get hungry at times. Is this normal?

Unable to edit, I meant the Protein to be in grams.

Wondering when your surgery was?

My stomach has made all kinds of noises since the surgery! Sometimes I think it's hunger, sometimes it's just after I've eaten, so I'm assuming it's not.

Everyone is different, so I can't judge whether you are actually hungry or having head hunger. However, do realize that during the post-surgical phase when you are taking in mostly liquids, you will not feel the "full stomach" effect that you most assuredly will when you are eating solid food. So don't worry too much at this stage . . .

Every one is different, but as XYZXYZXYZ1955 mentioned just wait until you get to the pureed phase and you feel stuffed after a few tablespoons. Until then whether it's head hungry or actual hunger doesn't really matter for the long term so long as you aren't reaching for something you don't need at this point.

Just so you know post op a growling stomach doesn’t necessarily mean hunger. Mine talks when it’s digesting nonstop! I’m 4.5 years out and can’t eat or drink within like2 hours of bedtime or it keeps me awake! Sometimes it even keeps hubby awake!

I was starving the morning after surgery. I know it was NOT head hunger, it was real hunger.

Curious, how did you know?

I’ve heard a good rule of thumb is if any food (ie something on your plan like a Protein Shake or yogurt) will satisfy then it’s real hunger... if you want a specific taste or sensation (salty, crunchy) or food (cookie, burger or even a healthy food) then it’s head hunger.
