Go-ing4it 0 Posted March 24, 2018 I️ just had the gastric sleeve and hiatal hernia surgery performed on 3/22, I’m 2 days post op. My incisions are tender as can be expected, but I’m really having trouble drinking anything. Every time I️ swallow I feel a deep pulling pain in my (lower) chest. Has anyone else who had both these surgeries experienced this? If so, how long did it last? What did you do to alleviate the discomfort?
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted March 24, 2018 Yes, this is normal, you have inflammation. Try sf popsicles or warm tea and alternate the two. 1 Go-ing4it reacted to this
Kate D 41 Posted March 25, 2018 I had the same thing for about the first four weeks. If I took too big of a sip of Water it was worse. Like everyone says small sips..Hang in there it will get better 2 logicwand and Go-ing4it reacted to this
decidecommitsucceedrd 5 Posted March 25, 2018 That's probably from the tube they stick down your throat during surgery. Mine stopped bothering about 5 days after surgery. I had ice chips and sugar free popsicles to soothe that feeling. 1 Go-ing4it reacted to this
logicwand 269 Posted March 26, 2018 Had the same thing, I think. VERY painful type cramping after drinking Water. Doctor said I'd be fine but didn't have any advice/meds for me. The pain medication I was sent home with didn't alleviate this. Each day the pains came less often and less severe. But it took an entire week for it to completely go away. Nothing I did helped. For me it was just time, unfortunately.
