Losingit2018 1,170 Posted March 24, 2018 My surgery isn't until Monday but, I did lose 80 pounds rapidly back in the mid 90s which caused me to have my gallbladder out. 1 logicwand reacted to this
redhead_che 824 Posted March 25, 2018 I don’t have any problems right now, but my surgeon said approximately half of sleeved patients will need their gallbladder out post op at some point. Yikes! 1 logicwand reacted to this
Kathy Fife 11 Posted March 25, 2018 My doctor wanted to take it during surgery knowing that gb issues occur. But he spent too much time cleaning up adhesions he had no time. Two years later out it came. Easy surgery. Good luck!Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app 1 logicwand reacted to this
TexasMommy80 297 Posted March 25, 2018 I haven’t had the WLS yet but I had mine out in December. My surgeon removes all gallbladder that have even a small stone in them, because he knows they will eventually come out. He wasn’t the one that took mine out, but he would have otherwise. On another note, the gallbladder attacks were a new kind of pain that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I went through three rounds before I finally gave in and went to see my doctor. Goodness, I should have went much sooner, they were debilitating. There were some random posts that were helpful, but I wanted people to comment here all in one spot - kinda like a poll. "Yes, I had my gallbladder out x years after the sleeve" or "no, I'm x years post sleeve and my gallbladder is fine". Saw nothing like this in my searches. Thanks though. Ang~10~17~17 22 Posted March 26, 2018 Yes I had my sleeve October of 2017 and by December I was having gallstones. Gallbladder taken out December 29th. 1 logicwand reacted to this
Kathy Fife 11 Posted March 26, 2018 I had Roux N Y gastric bypass 8 yrs ago. Dr. wanted to take gb at the same time but he had too many adhesions to clean up. (3 C-sections caused those) so about 3-4 yrs later started having pain in the area of the gb, so we opted to remove it. Never asked if there were stones in it, but pain was goneSent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app 1 logicwand reacted to this

txvsg 154 Posted March 28, 2018 Have any of you had gallstones after WLS and had to have your gallbladder removed? I’m 1.5 years out only 25 years old and I had an attack about a month ago. Never had any previous symptoms and it was very severe I actually had gange green and it had to be removed immediately. The surgeon said he had never seen one in that condition for someone under 50. He also of course mentioned that with wls gallbladder disease is common. Scariest thing I’ve ever been through medically it was so painful 1 logicwand reacted to this
