kaleia 12 Posted March 24, 2018 I’m 16 days post op but finding it very difficult to get my Protein AND liquids in. I’ve been living off cottage cheese and can do 1/4 cup at a time. I used to LOVE the Protein Shakes the first week and now I can’t stand them. They are too sweet. I bought GENEPRO and that’s helping a lot. Can you give me examples of what you eat and drink? Mattymatt 491 Posted March 24, 2018 I am facing the same problem with Protein Shakes. They're now nauseatingly sweet. I was going to try using some unflavored Protein Powder and mixing it with chicken broth but I am so close to getting to the pureed stage that I'll just power through. Pureed stage comes for me on Tuesday as I will be fully 14 days post-op.
Apple203 1,314 Posted March 24, 2018 (edited) I am sick to death of milky Protein Drinks, too, blech! I'm a longtime green smoothie gal, so hopefully one day I'll get there again. My next stage is: flakey fish, tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, eggs, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, greek yogurt, refried Beans, smashed bananas, applesauce, mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes/cauliflower. Its a veritable cornucopia of food, 2 ounces at a time! I can't wait. Edited March 24, 2018 by Apple203
sillykitty 10,780 Posted March 24, 2018 Is greek yogurt allowed yet? Also, have you tried Bone Broth?
aNYCdb 310 Posted March 24, 2018 Breakfasts are generally a banana Protein Shake cut with unsweetened peanut powder (to cut the sweetness overall). lunch of have half a package of tuna (those that come preflavored in the pouch) and maybe a sargento reduced fat cheese stick. Mid afternoon snack the rest of the tuna. dinner some sort of meat and a little bit of Soup. When in doubt egg whites are my fill in. For extra Protein I have a couple of extra concentrated shakes that I freeze in an ice pop mold for dessert (for some reason the sweetness bothers me less when i have to lick it). Depending on the day I also have an extra shake ready (or pick up a bottle of Isopure zero carb to sip throughout the day). Plus I much on spicy picke chips and or some other semi soft veg, when feeling so inclined.
sideeye 1,440 Posted March 24, 2018 Try Orgain chocolate shakes. They're the only shake that didn't taste sickeningly sweet to me, and now I have one every day for Breakfast just to get 20g of Protein out of the way early on.
frust8 963 Posted March 24, 2018 Sideye where did you purchase Orgain? Is it a mail order item, did you get it from your doctor or program or did you buy it at a store?[emoji6]Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted March 24, 2018 Isopure ready-made blue raspberry or punch diluted with crystal light lemonade was all I could tolerate after surgery. Bone Broth.
Losingit2018 1,170 Posted March 24, 2018 Syntrax Nectar is not very sweet at all. Plus they have fruit, tea and coffee type flavors. All very good IMHO
wjgo 272 Posted March 24, 2018 Unjury chicken broth Protein mix is suprisingly good. It's granulated protein and easily mixes with a spoon. Use it in warm Water, and tastes just like chick broth.Cheapest place to buy I found was from the Unjury websiteSent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
