Hosting my family on Sunday for a pre-Easter get together. I'm making steak, per request. This will be the first time I've seen my brother since my surgery 9 weeks ago, and the first time I've eaten in front of most of my family. At least I am hosting, so I can run around cleaning and cooking and not look unsettled. This is also my first time cooking for a large group since surgery. I went to go buy steaks and I stood there in amazement at the size of them (Ribeyes & New York Strip specifically) . I used to eat one of those, a whole one! I'm looking forward to having normal traditions and getting over the fear that I don't fit into holidays when food is involved.

Sounds like it's going to be a great time. I hope you have fun, and make sure you don't drive yourself too crazy running around making the day perfect.

I'm a perfectionist to say the least, but more so a nurturer. I love hosting because I thrive on making sure everyone is fed, comfortable, and happy. But good advice, I'll try and take it easy ;)

I had a thought, and I'm not sure how I would do it, but possibly have something planned for your gathering that isn't food focussed. Something for you to look forward to that will help take the stress of the daunting dinner table. With my inlaws, I would just have to find a new board game or card game. My side of the family would be harder. Like I said, just a thought.

(I'm like you... I love to cook for others, seeing them enjoying their meals, feeling comfortable, having fun, etc. I get the pressure one can feel to make everything perfect nice)

I like this idea a lot! I do have some games that would work for a large crowd. I'll SPRING it on them after dinner. thanks MrsGramgee!

I think that hosting will make it easier to distract from the tiny amount of food you're able to eat. As far as activities, giant Jenga is a hit with my family.

I've sent that and I want to get it for our monthly game night with friends. It looks like a lot of fun.

You will be moving around so much nobody will notice how little you're eating. You are like a hummingbird flitting around and no one counts how many times Ms H-bird makes it back to the nectar feeder they just enjoy seeing her. You'll rock this!

Surprisingly all in the family are really good at least the ones that participate. We also have a darts for money competition each year also we had like a fun dress up coustum contest to see who was most festive creative I mean on Halloween my mother-in-law did like a full on Arabian knights routine with dancing and dialogue and music it's wild we are like crazy competitive

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
