My gastric sleeve surgery is April 23rd. I’ve lost 30lbs over the last 7months and have another 160 to go. I’m 6 days into my pre op liquid diet and down 12lbs. Post op, My dr has me on liquids for a month, then purée for a month, then soft foods for a month. I don’t get to eat hard or crunchy food until July 24th.

My surgery was a week ago. I finally was able to swallow better and I got a nasty head cold. It’s really slowing my progress. I’m still getting my fluids in but not walking much. Just frustrated.

Jut had my sleeve on April 9th. Noticed that I’m tasting a metallic taste in my mouth. Is this normal?

The Doctors assistant called me yesterday to see if im ok I told her Im sipping all day and walking she wants me to get more Protein in She was very suprised I was doing so well and hadnt thrown up . So today I woke up at 8am drank 2 protein sip by sip and finished at 12pm now ive been sipping on Water I drank 1 1/3 water bottle since 12 its 2:25 now so honestly its a focused job to get the liquids in. Also i did a egg mask for my hair for my hair could have its protein and hopefully not fall off. I do feel tired and am sleeping more (I just had surgery!!) But i have just a little pain on my lower right stomach. And if anything touches my stomach in certain places it hurts, but not where the stitches are very weird. Anyone have any questions let me know. Oh and the colder the drink the easier it is to get down. so im adding crushed iced and chewing it. (I have not had space for anything else like Jello , or broth ) I sip all day today i hope to get in the 3 Protein Shakes and 64 oz water.

Every time I fell asleep, it seemed like a nurse was in messing with me! I just walked in the door of my house and I’m going straight to my own bed!

That’s what I did. I’ll be glad when this shoulder gas pain subsides. Making everything pretty miserable right now.

Hi everyone,

I just got home after my RNY GBP. I had mine on Thursday the 12th. I was expecting much worse. So far so good. Very little pain or discomfort. I did take the pain meds as prescribed. I think the worst part was that liquid you have to drink for the upper GI.

I'm at the point I hate waking up in the morning because I know I have to drink Protein Shakes. Oh how the tastebuds turn against you. I'm lost because there are so few things I eat until 25th. I return to work Monday, let's the good things roll.

I’m with you Miss Tee. I HATE Protein shakes right now. I had surgery 4/11 and am getting in one shake a day right now, but making myself sick doing it. Desperate to move on to puréed foods. Wishing you the best going back to work!

The struggle is real. I try to compensate for the Protein with greek yogurt and egg whites. It's better than not getting any protein. I suffer through 1 Protein Shake a day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
