Any April surgery buddies

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! This is my first time posting anything on here, and my surgery is scheduled for Thursday. I’m very nervous about it. I’m 36 years old, my current weight is 222, and I’m 5’4. My highest weight ever was 285. I’m a diabetic and also have high blood pressure. I had to go thru 3 months weight loss appts. with my dietician and primary care Dr. to be qualified for the gastric sleeve. Requirements of my insurance, which is WellCare. I’ve pretty much been yo-yo dieting my entire adult life, I was skinny as a kid growing up, but packed on the pounds after having my three kiddos. Has anyone on here had their surgery yet, and can you please tell me about how long your recovery time was? Any tips on getting all the Protein in after surgery that our bodies need? Any advice is appreciated! Thank you so very much! [emoji173]️

I came home from the hospital emergency room late last night. I was told just to try to get in as many liquids as I’m able to.

I had surgery on 4/18/18 and everything is causing nausea and heartburn/cramping. I also am running a low grade fever on and off, I am constipated and I have a few red splotchy areas near the incisions. I spoke to the surgeons office they suggested I come in. I am on my way to the emergency room now

I hope you feel better just take it slow do you have some one to help you

I’m so sorry to hear that. Just keep a close eye on everything and contact the surgeon ASAP. I ended up in ER because of gas, Heartburn, and the inability to take in enough liquids and Protein, as well as a continual low grade fever.

Hey Guys!! Anyone else have this issue. I was a month on liquid and now I’m in the second month of only purée foods. But after my first week of puréed I gained 3 pounds?? I freaked out a bit. I’m eating 500 calories at most is that too much?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
