CARIE 0 Posted October 30, 2007 SO HERE IT IS AT FIRST I WAS ALL EXCITED ABOUT GETTING THIS DONE. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 5 MONTHS AND RESULTS??! WELL I HAVE LOST 24 POUNDS. AM I HAPPY?? YES AND NO. YES BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF CONTROL GAINING 4 POUNDS A MONTH AND ONLY 24 YEARS OLD WITH A LITTLE BABY. I KNOW THAT IF I WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN THIS PROCEDURE DONE I WOULD HAVE BEEN WELL OVER 400 POUNDS BY THE AGE OF 30 AND AS IT WAS I BARELY WANTED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE AT 264 POUNDS. PREOP I LOST SOME WEIGHT AND I CURRENTLY WEIGH 235 YES IM EXCITED BUT AT THE SAME TIME DISAPPOINTED. WHEN I EAT THERE IS THAT POINT WHEN U KNOW U NEED TO STOP OR YOUR food WILL GET STUCK BUT AM I FULL? NO IM STILL HUNGRY IT JUST CAN'T EAT!! IM WORKING OUT 4X A WEEK, TRYING TO EAT RIGHT SO THIS IS BASICALLY A DIET, ITS ALL MENTAL BECAUSE I COULD HAVE DONE ALL THIS ON MY OWN!! THE ONLY GOOD THING I KNOW IT WONT COME BACK. MY 5TH FILL IS NEXT WEEK IM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.I DONT KNOW IF MY MIXED FEELING MAKE SENSE TO ANYONE BUT ITS FRUSTRATING WHEN THE JOY OF ENJOYING A SIMPLE MEAL IS GONE AND I DONT REALLY SEE THE RESULTS I WAS HOPING CONSIDERING I HAD MAJOR SURGERY:help:
Candle 11 Posted October 30, 2007 Are you logging your food and really being honest about what you are eating? Those calories really add up fast and from surprising sources. At your size, working out 4x a week, it does seem like you would have lost more by now but they do say an average safe amount to lose is 1-2lbs a week. You are on target and NOT gaining!! I feel your pain - I haven't had a fill yet and feel no restriction - it's all been willpower so far. It's a battle. Keep working at it - you'll get there. Have you seen a nutritionist recently? peggy1011 0 Posted October 30, 2007 Carie, I too was banded in June and seem to be stuck at 235. I've only had one fill though, and am scheduled for my 2nd fill this friday. I know I'm making wrong food choices...and I desperately need to work on my Protein intake. Ingesting the proper amount of protein will make us feel full. I'm going to request an appt. with the dietician so I can get some more clear guidance on what and how much i should be eating. My only other nutritional appt. was preop and they threw so much info at me, I barely retained 1/4 of it. All I can suggest is we gotta stick with it, and see where we can make improvements. We're all in it together, and I refuse to give in and let this beat me. Good luck to you, and keep me posted on your progress, and I'll do the same! CARIE 0 Posted October 31, 2007 Thanks Everyone For Your Replies. Its Just So Frustrating I Figured By December 50 Pounds Would Be Gone. Oh Well...but Overall I Am Happy Because I Know Its Working Somewhat. And Peggy Let Me Know How It Goes After Your Second Fill. Hopefully This Fill Will Work Better. mddorame 0 Posted April 2, 2009 Cari, Please don't get discouraged. When I got banded in July 2008. They told me I could not go for a fill until 3 months after surgery. I listened and lost about 10lbs in the first 3 months. I too was thinking twice about it since I wanted it all to come off in those three months. Once I started going to have the fills every month without fail and looked forward to it I started losing between 8-10lbs a month. But you have to be really true to yourself and really monitor the foods consumed. The drinking and eating at the same time is really something I discourage. I use to love to eat and drink but that is very important in how you feel. You should feel fool with small portions but that means no drinking at the same time. Almost 9 months later I am now weighing 134lbs and I am almost at my goal weight (128lbs). Keep working at it and go every month for the fills. One more thing...... If with in that week that you go for a fill you feel you are doing all the necessary things to accomplish 1-2 lbs of weight loss and you are not losing you can go and have more of the saline added or removed (Just a thought). The reason I say this is because I did when I felt it was not restricted enough and I also went back when I felt I was losing too much weight too fast. So, it is all up to you and how you feel. My prayers are with you. Marie
