Near death by chocolate ?

Has this ever happened to anyone before ?

Last night I had eaten a small snack Snickers bar. I'm not sure why , but as soon as I had finished it.....yes I was un pain. It felt like I had swallowed a golf ball; so I went into the bath room to slim, to maybe relive the pressure some. Well I did slim a little but I still could feel some pressure . I was very tired, it was late, and so I went to sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night chocking and chafing. I had asperated on my own vomit. Every time I would chaf I would taste the snickers bar and vomit. This was coming up from my lungs. What would have happened if I would have taken a sleeping pill ; would I been able to wake up to clear my lungs ? I have desided that I will not ever eat anything that close to bed time again.....just in case it doesnt go down well.

p.s.

In case your wondering what was she thinking .... eating a snickers bar.

I was way below my 800 cal. count for food yesterday. Thats why I thought I would treat myself to a snack snickers bar.

Yup--It used to happen quite a bit. Horrible feeling! Now I never eat after 7pm and about an hour before I go to bed, I drink a glass of Water to "rinse out" the pouch. That and Pepcid keeps the reflux at bay for the most part.

Wow, sounds like a tough night.

I would not judge you for eating a snickers bar so don't sweat that. Obviously, we all know it is not the best food choice, but I do believe anything in moderation.

The only thing I would take from this is to not eat a snickers bar again. Or if you did, eat it in very small bites and very slowly. It is not worth waking up to vomiting. I am sorry you had such a lousy night! But I am glad you are okay.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
