az062217vsg 40 Posted March 21, 2018 I had VSG in June 2017. I've had to get IV fluids 3 times since surgery. I'm starting to feel dehydrated once again, but I hate to call my NP again requesting IV fluids. Before surgery my mom warned my surgeon that I get dehydrated easily (always have), but he shrugged it off and said I'd be fine. I've tried various Water bottles, alarms, etc. but just can't seem to get enough water in me! Any advice?
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted March 21, 2018 So maybe try an app that reminds you to drink. A fancy water bottle won't fix it, if you don't raise it to your lips and use it. Are you having trouble swallowing liquids? Or just not taking time to drink? Drink right before meals and then set a timer to drink 30 minutes after you finish a meal. Put Water by your bedside and when you get up to pee drink several slugs then. When you get up drink at least 8oz before ANY food. Try hot broth, tea, popsicles, Soups before meals. You are the only one that can fix this, by DOING.
