ems067 5 Posted April 15, 2018 I start my Pre Op Diet today. It’s beginning to get real. I have been preparing by doing Protein Shakes, yogurt, Water, Jello, and ice pops for 2 of the meals and then having what I wanted for one meal. Had my share of food funerals with friends. I must say that I have some really amazingly supportive friends. We are now in our 50’s and friends for 45 years. We went out Friday night for my last bender and we all committed to getting healthier and all committed to begin walking rather then always going out for dinner. Frustr8 7,886 Posted April 15, 2018 Don't you think your body is trying to stop your surgery, this is it's last dich effort to keep things the way they are? But you've caught your body in its tricks, and this time you are not falling for it! You're going to wake up🌈 tomorrow and keep that appointment for your surgery.😷 You are smart, you know exactly what you're doing and you're the one in control. And even if Mr Body tries to protest afterward, you're still in control and you will be the ultimate winner. And every day,you see a scale or non scale victory, you will know it's worth all the things that came before. The world awaits you so 🌟Shine Baby Shine!😝😛😛😛😛 1 domi reacted to this
Belle13 2 Posted April 15, 2018 Had surgery on April 11th, on the pre op diet I used Premier Protein drinks and nectar (no flavor) Protein Powder. The Premier Protein Drinks are great with 30g a bottle. The nectar works great with crystal light and Water. Premium Protein can also be found almost anywhere. Amazon has clear drinks made by them as well. Right now I'm on the clear liquid diet until monday, then I will go back to full liquid diet for two weeks. Good luck! 1 domi reacted to this
angiec76 2 Posted April 15, 2018 I was sleeved 4/12 and I’m hungry but I’m sticking to my fluids and Protein Shakes. Did anyone get hungry after surgery? I thought after sleeve part of the stomach that produces the hormone can’t rember what it’s called gets cut away so you don’t feel hunger: I had mine on 4/10, yesterday 4/14 was hard I wanted food so bad. Today I’m doing better the hunger feelings have gone. 1 domi reacted to this

I've had moments of being emotional. But it's mostly because I want something other than fluids. Sent from my Z983 using BariatricPal mobile app Hi, my surgery is tomorrow. I’m curious about the drainage bulbs people keep mentioning. My surgeon did not say anything about this. Is this something I should expect?

Frustr8 7,886 Posted April 16, 2018 Some people have them, many do not. If your surgeon feels you require the drainage one will be installed otherwise, like most people you will not. FYI Back,in the "bad old days" when I had my gall bladder and appendix removed with an open right paramedian incision back in the mid 80s I did have a drain . It was removed the morning I went home I had been hospitalized for I think 5 days. Only way you could tell if you looked at my 5.5 inch scar is a slight widening of it. if you do have one it will be only because you really needed it. Only,3-5% do. Don't worry, about it!😷😝 PS Be happy you"'ll have a laprascopic , they tend to heal quicker, easier and a lot less. painfully. And if I had to have another . open" it would still be okay, I'm a vetran there! 😛🚩
johnsons13 359 Posted April 16, 2018 My surgeon and his team all put in drainage tubes/bulbs in everyone regardless. I had laproscopic vsg without hernia repair and I had one. I got it out a week after my surgery on my follow up. A girl I became friends with had surgery the same day by another surgeon in our group and he also left a drainage bulb in her. Talk to your surgeon and find out what they're typical surgery is like from start to going home. We were told at our class we would have one.
Nannett1966 14 Posted April 16, 2018 I had surgery on 4/5/18 and am down 9 pounds. When I started this journey I was 238, my surgery weight was 207 and now I am 198. I am finding that I NEVER get the full feeling and its probably all in my head but I seem to always be hungry (even while eating). I am on pureed foods now and was told I can have mashed potatoes but I can not tolerate them. Last night I had 2 ounces of tuna and for once since surgery I felt satisfied. Good luck with your upcoming surgeries!Question. You are closer to my weight. This gives me an idea on weight loss thank you fir sharing. Did you have trouble with:Drinking Water? Gas after surgery Level of pain? And other side effect like nausea, weakness? How soon did you have a ok to drive again?

My surgeon did not say anything about this. Is this something I should expect? I did not have a drainage bulb, and one was never discussed. I'm 30 with no co-occuring issues - I don't know if that makes a difference. Surgery was 4/4 for me, and today is my first post op appointment! I'm looking forward to finding out how much I've lost so far. I don't have a scale, and my parents' scale is 5-10 lbs off (depending on who you ask! 😁) So I haven't really been able to track weight at all.
cbf 42 Posted April 16, 2018 It depends on the surgeon. I did not have a drainage tube. Good luck! 1 healthyme2018 reacted to this
