Thank you for all of the advice. Today was day 1 of this 2 week diet and dang it is not fun. Please tell me I won’t be this hungry the whole time. 😟 I am so excited for you....only a few more days until your surgery. Please keep me posted.

I had good days and bad. Mostly at night was the worst. Today was Clear Liquids only and citrate at 4. I felt so bad I wasn't hungry, but this time tomorrow I'll be on the losers bench. [emoji106]

I would love some fruit or meat, I think I just want something to chew. I can have cottage cheese or Jell-O but the cottage cheese only up to 3 times a day and Greek lowfat yogurt up to 3 times a day. So far I haven't noticed any hair loss and I don't start taking Vitamins until a week after surgery. I also have dreads so I only wash my hair about 1-2 times a week and don't brush it.

So do you think it would hurt to eat cottage cheese or Jello instead of 3 oz of meat? Isn’t the goal to shrink our livers for this surgery? I am so new to this and am struggling to get through a 12 hour shift at work on 3 Protein Shakes, no caffeine and Water. I am not eating the small meal until I get home.

I wasn't able to eat meat on my pre op diet. I was only able to eat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt. I couldn't have a meal except liquids. My Dr had free liquids like broth, sugar free Popsicle, sugar free Jell-O, and flavored water that I could have unlimited during the day.

Have you tried broth or Tomato Soup? Something hot may give you a more satisfactory feeling, as your brain registers warmth with eating. A thermos of broth may do the trick for curbing hunger pangs, while at work.

Best of luck!!!

No, I haven’t. Is that ok? Is there a limit on the Amount? I think someone mentioned adding Protein to broth. Are there unflavored Proteins? Thank you so much for the advice.

With me, the broth was free or unlimited. Most broth has a little very little Protein, but you should be getting your protein amounts with your shakes.

I've seen some add unflavored protein to broth, but if you're still doing shakes as recommended by your surgeon, you shouldn't need to add it. Maybe post surgery you could.

I think right now I'm still trying to digest the fact that this may actually really happen after all. My surgeon told me that my bmi is 50 which makes me high risk. I'm kinda tripping on that. It makes me wonder if I can ever get to a nice looking body instead of just healthy. Sounds selfish I'm sure but my head is spinning probably

I have those moments where I think like that. Especially when looking at old childhood photos of myself and wondering what would have happened if my parents never split up, and I didn't spend my formative years semi-homeless and in poverty, with poor quality medical care, housing, and educational opportunities.

What if my parents had worked out their marriage problems, Dad had kept his good job, I grew up in that nice working class neighborhood in California, and I was able to continue taking those dance classes I loved and added a sport to it? Or music? What if my PCOS had been diagnosed when I was 12, and already obese, instead of at 29?

What if instead of feeling helpless as my weight ballooned up on the garbage food that can be easily stored and prepared in a motel room or car, I'd had a stable home life and a pediatrician that said, "Get Kristy to a gynecologist or endocrinologist" when I was complaining of heavy periods that left me doubled over in pain and a constant feeling of hunger?

Would I have had one of those cute teenage California girl bodies that the boys liked? Would I have been less shy and more outgoing as a teen? Would I have had the confidence and energy to get involved in clubs at school, and make lots of friends, and get into a quality college and finish in four years and become a math teacher?

But, we can't go back. And we have these bodies, no imaginary bodies from an alternate life. The only direction we can go is forward, toward greater health and a better life.

And I plan to save up loads of cash for Beach Babe Body surgery.

Well said. Sometimes I feel like giving up because I won't be able to eat all the tasty food and then I realize that the food is what got me here and I'm ready for a change

Kristy you'll dance on a beach yet[emoji160]I have faith in you being a success. Sometimes I think the same way as you, my life was differently dysfunctional but there are things I wish had been changed and it's too late now. Our bruises and scars have strengthened our resolve to change what WE can, to live stronger, thinner and healthier. Take my virtual hand and we'll make it after all![emoji173][emoji172][emoji171][emoji170][emoji169][emoji13]

Still lurking and reading all this good advice. Hey got a question for you folks. My blender died a slow stinky death recently. Want to get a replacement for future pureed and healthy drinks especially if I decide to go the powdered route instead of bottles. Saw on HSN today a hand held blender, is that a good option, should I lean more towards an ordinary upright style or go for a NutraBullet or Ninja?.? What have you had best luck with?

I have three kinds of "blenders". I have the regular traditional type of blender, the stick blender that you can use in a bowl or pot, and a food processor, which can blend, but also shred, chop, slice, etc. I use the stick blender more than the other two, because it's easier to store (I keep it in a draw with my knives), set up (just slide the stick onto the motor housing and twist until it clicks) and clean up (I usually just run it for a few seconds in a cup of soapy Water, then rinse it.)

I work long shifts too. My doctor added a 4th shake if needed.

I see my surgeon tomorrow. I’m going to ask. Do you all have to go to a class before surgery too?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
