Someone made a post about this last week. We got 2 of the flavors but haven't tried them yet. Will try them next week maybe? (at the top of the month--rather than when I'm trying to end the month spectacularly!) LOL. https://www.birdseye.com/product/zucchini-lentil-pasta-3/

And Seahawk, I've been able to eat 1/2c volume since early on as well. :( It scares the crap outta me. But I figure, I'm just gonna stick with 1/2c volume for as long as humanly possible and let everyone else catch up with me. :) That way I will hopefully not damage the pouch by stretching it or the stoma out! Praying...

I started last week using my 1/2c measuring cup and putting it on the scale. So then I measure out 1 1/2oz of meat (which usually consumes about 3/4 of the volume available in the 1/2cup) and then I add the veg on top until it equals a perfect 1/2 cup. :) It usually means, that I get between 1/4 and 1/4oz of veg to fill it up.

But I'm trying to use as heavy and dense a Protein as possible.

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing after coming to the realization that it is possible to overeat. That amount of veggies seems like such a small portion but if you get a variety of small pieces of different fruits and veggies on each plate your going to get the needed nutrients. On the other hand eating the same fruit or veggie all of the time could leave you deficient of some much needed nutrients. A good amount of Protein & the best variety of fruits and veggies you can get on your plate is going to give you the best needed nutrients as well as better health.

Yep. I hear ya. I'm still just trying to navigate how to get in my 60g of Protein in a day while only eating 1/2c food at my meals. I'm trying not to get more than about 6oz of Protein Drink in each day and the rest food. So the math doesn't really work out. You know?

Maybe later when the RD says I can up it to 3/4c of food, then I can have 3 meals of 3oz of protein + 2 Snacks of veggies only. Do you have anything figured out to help with this and the 1/2c volume limit?

I was wondering about that. My surgeon has us on a 4 meal a day schedule: 2 shakes plus 2 meals with 1/4 cup soft food. The mix is basically an acknowledgement that we'll need shakes to get the required Protein.

I just went to my 2 week Dr. /nutritionist visit. We have a booklet with meal plans and couple pages of recipes. (Didn’t you get something like this?)

Week 3 is 3 blended (puréed) meals and 2 Snacks that can be shakes.

All stick to the 1/2 cup (she said men may need 3/4 cup). 1/4 cup Protein, 1/8 cup veggie, 1/8 cup starch or fruit.

After a month start adding foods slowly.

No raw veggies, nuts, rice, Pasta till at least 8 weeks.

That was me. And, to follow up, they were good when initially served, but not as leftovers/after being reheated.

Nice booklet. And yes, I got something similar. BUT what I'm trying to explain is that these goobers slip easily between volume and weights! AND THE TWO ARE NOT EQUAL OR THE SAME!!!! (ex: 1oz of spinach by volume is VASTLY different from 1oz of spinach BY WEIGHT) And for patients who are literal, it makes it hard to decipher.

Cuz when Seahawk says he is eating 4-6oz per meal, YOU and I may be mistakenly thinking that this dude is sitting down at his stage and chowing down on 4-6 ounces of food BY WEIGHT. And if he is, then holy cow! Cuz by volume, 4-6oz of food by weight is more like 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food by volume depending on what you are measuring and weighing.

Soooooo when you figure he is ACTUALLY using a volumetric statement to describe his food quantity, it's much easier to compute! He is eating basically 1/2 cup to 3/4c of food BY VOLUME!!!!

Your own book does the same confusing thing. It's talking talking talking volumetric measures (ie 1/4c, 1/2c, etc) then the Protein switches speeds to be 2oz. So yeah. I assume they mean 2oz BY WEIGHT. But please know that any day of the world, if you measure dry, cooked meats either diced, shredded or ground, 2oz BY WEIGHT will total right about 1/2cup BY VOLUME!!!!

Yes! 1/2 cup of food. If your eating lettuce consider how much you could compress into a half a cup compared to a dense food. Another thing to consider is the liquid in most fruits & veggies. If you eat watermelon how much is Water versus dense food so of course you can eat more & some may need to. I was told to eat hearty/dense foods so if I’m eating tomatoes for example I might go ahead & throw in a couple of extras. As for Protein you can search for a plant based powder or plant protein specific meal. If your eating meat consider the protein in different cuts. Some contain higher amounts of protein than others for the same size cut. I’ll post some photos I took at the grocery store that I refer to when selecting meats to use in my meals. You really shouldn’t have a problem getting your required protein without adding in more than One Bar or shake & sometimes none at all. I only eat or drink bars or shakes containing 30 grams of protein.

Read my reply on this thread. 2 shakes for meals seems ridiculous. You can get Protein without them.

So you are able to eat 2oz of Protein per meal and about how much measurement in veggies to make your 1/2c @Seahawks Fan? Just wondering. :)

Around 3 oz on the scale fills the cup or 3 oz Protein then the remainder in veggies. If I’m feeling really hungry I eat more protein.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
