clo_doe 29 Posted March 16, 2018 Guys I'm struggling! I can't seem to drink enough Water I've only had one litre in two days and today my tongue is white and my urine is bright yellow almost glowing. I'm worried. I'm trying my best but drinking Water is uncomfortable, I'm wondering if I should take more pain killers and push through the discomfort. Also I'm having Soups and yogurt drinks just fine but water is a struggle. What should I do?
Apple203 1,314 Posted March 16, 2018 One option is to get a timer and a one ounce cup and drink 1 ounce every 15 minutes for 16 hours. This is working for me. Glowing urine may be from Vitamins? 1 FluffyChix reacted to this

If flavor - increase your Fluid intake by adding cut apple juice - 1 part water/1 part juice, unsalted broth, or no sugar flavor packets to your water. If quantity - I used the one ounce medicine cups - would pour 4 of them per hour - and would drink them every 15 minutes fo at least 12 hours.
star2017 80 Posted March 16, 2018 I haven't had surgery yet, it's April 10th, but I've been preparing and bought an 8oz baby bottle that i plan to use to track how many oz i drink plus I've heard that sometimes the smell of certain drinks may bother some and the baby bottle opening is so small. My nose doesn't capture the smells.....I've been experimenting haha good luck i hope you're able to get in more fluids.
James Marusek 5,244 Posted March 16, 2018 It is common for your taste buds to change after surgery. Be willing to experiment. After surgery, my taste buds changed dramatically. Even Water changed. In the hospital it tasted excessively chlorinated and I could not drink it. So I experimented. sugar free popsicles became my best friend. Some individuals find hot or cold can help with fluids. For me, I found that I could tolerate flavored water. So I began using Crystal Light. I also found a new drink Bai which I liked cold. In the winter, I found that I tolerate Hot Drinks such as piping hot cocoa. But you have to use the "No Sugar Added" variety. Also fine English teas were very good. The Fluid requirement is met by a combination. It is not only the water that you drink each day. But also the water you drink when you take your Vitamins and medicine. It is the milk you drink. It is the fluids content of the Protein Shakes. It is the water component of the Soups you take. It is met by flavored water such as Crystal Light. It is met by sugar free popsicles. It is met by tea and Decaf coffee. It is a combination of all the fluids that you consume during the day. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
FluffyChix 17,415 Posted March 16, 2018 If you've honestly only had 1 bottle of Water since yesterday, you MUST call your doc. Likely he's gonna want you in the ER for fluids. You can't di*k around with dehydration hon. I would NOT eat without being able to have fluids. I would try everything: ice chips, tons of sf popsicles. You do NOT need food or Protein right now. You need liquid hydration first and foremost. If you try to eat while seriously dehydrated you can bring on nausea, cardiac issues, vomitting. Lots of bad juju. Sorry you are struggling! Call your team! That's why they get the big bucks! 1 James Marusek reacted to this
angyplus5 470 Posted March 17, 2018 Call your doctor asap! That could be why your pee is bright yellow, dehydration will sneak up on you!Sent from my SM-G930VL using BariatricPal mobile app
JanineVSG 93 Posted March 17, 2018 Hey OP, are you taking a B Vitamin? It will make your pee neon yellow. It's pretty freaky! But your tongue does indicate dehydration. One way to test for dehydration is to pinch your skin on your hand. Google "dehydration pinch test". If the skin seems to stick together, you might be dehydrated. If it moves back into place, you're ok.
nevermore71 63 Posted March 18, 2018 Right after surgery I was told to count all liquid in total Fluid count. If you count your broth and yogurt drinks and all liquid intake how much liquid are you getting per day? Dehydration causes dark urine, Vitamins cause bright neon urine. lindsayAK 100 Posted March 18, 2018 Try Powerade zero and Vitamin Water zero. Not Gatorade 2 because it has sugar. Both drinks were suggested by my nutritionist to help with dehydration and fatigue due to dehydration. They helped me a ton! I also like the Crystal Light Pure lemonade flavor packets.
