Kicking the TV habit?

Recommended Posts

I'm a week post-op, and I'm still watching TV with meals. Do you think it's maybe okay in the liquid stage? It's taking me forever to drink a half cup of Soup, so I can't imagine sitting at the table for that long. At what stage should I try to quit TV with meals? Any tricks? It seems like the last thing I'm holding on to at this point!

I still watch TV or play with my phone during a lot of meals. It’s not ideal, you should be chewing, eating slowly and mindfully. But I can’t seem to break the habit! Was this something that came up specifically with your nutritionist?

Define forever. As a fast eater, forever might actually be only 15 minutes. The Baritastic App gives you a timer. Try using it and see what the actual time is.

I use the commercials as a time to eat/chew my food. While the show is on, I do not eat. This actually worked in my favor as I am a fast eater and even with a timer, I would be done eating before 30 minutes.

Unless it is Game of Thrones and then I am not eating while watching because I will not pay attention. I will sit there and stuff my face and before you know it, have the foamy feeling and pressure in my chest.

I still eat (about half the time) ... usually in front of the TV 24 hour news station.

I must aim to wind this back ... as I am aware that it's often unthinking (almost unconscious) eating.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
