DivaGirl06 4 Posted March 15, 2018 So I had my surgery on Monday March 12. Everything went well except I had to have a hernia repaired. The pain was intense the first few days but I am feeling better today. Has anyone else had to have hernia repair as well? If so any advice or any barriers. 1 logicwand reacted to this
logicwand 269 Posted March 15, 2018 My surgeon told me he was going to repair my hiatal hernia during the sleeve gastrectomy. I really can't tell that anything has been done either way. LOL Felt like crap first three days, but each day got better and better. Some days I still don't have energy and I feel weak. I also hit a road block with major cramping during my second week, but I took some milk of magnesia twice a day for two days and I finally felt better. frust8 963 Posted March 15, 2018 You are not breathing until then? You may be majorily blue in the face from lack of oxygen before that time. If you mean you won't be able to relax until it's all over that I understand.Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Creekimp13 5,840 Posted March 15, 2018 I had hernia and sleeve done. Had a nasty pain in my shoulder that felt like a pinched nerve that I'm told is related to the hernia.....but it was just bothersome, not debilitating. I walked like crazy right after surgery and escaped the hospital the next day. Took minimal pain meds and felt terrific. Regular Tylenol at home for a couple day...that's it. Was back to walking 5 miles a day within a couple days. 2 Wikiwiki and Apple203 reacted to this
BrandiLynn 45 Posted March 15, 2018 I had both done on March 9. The last 3 days, I have had really intense/painful stomach spasms. I mean I felt like there was a squirrel or gerbil that they put in my stomach that was trying to jump out. The nurse said I was probably producing excess stomach acid still and my sensitive new stomach was reacting to it. She has told me to take my Prilosec(Omeprazole) 40mg capsules. I am finally feeling pretty good today, day 6 after surgery. Don't know if it is time or the meds. I certainly wasn't experiencing any burning that I would associate with the acid. But odds are if you have a hiatal hernia, you are on this type of medicine. I would not recommend stopping it after surgery as I did. 1 Apple203 reacted to this
