I’m 5 weeks post op and eating solids. All clean Proteins, fruit, veg etc. I eat until I’m comfortably full (550 cals daily approx). I drink all my liquids between meals. But I feel like after an hour I’m starting to get hungry by 2 hours, maybe 3 my stomach is starving! Can anyone recommend something that will make me stay full longer? It’s pretty inconvenient lol

I thought you were supposed to eat every 3 hours so isn’t that normal?

I think so. But I feel like at hour 2 I’m getting hungry by 3 I’m famished. I was wondering if there’s something more sustainable I can eat .

Are you getting enough Protein? Protein and fat usually keeps people satiated longer.

I'd definitely suggest increasing your Protein if this is a recurring issue. You might also want to consult your doctor and/or nutritionist.

Drop the fruit. You don’t need it, for sure for 6 months. Drop anything that tastes sweet. Eat Protein every two hours, fat is ok too. Eat a couple bites of carb with or after your protein. Don’t worry about the small amount of cals you can eat, or that you need food every 2 hours. No problem. It’s par for the course this soon after surgery for sure. And not horrible for life either. But it will get better.

When I say fruit, maybe 3 strawberries or 7 grapes a few days a week. I added some slivered almonds to yogurt and that seems to help. As does eating low-fat (siggys) yogurt instead of fat free. I’m not able to eat it al but the almonds help keep me full :)
