Lap Band to Sleeve Hair Loss

Recommended Posts

I had my Lap Band removed in January. I am having VGS surgery in May. I had beautiful hair before I had three children. Add the Lap Band and it is thinner. If I lose even more with the sleeve, things could get scary for me. How much Hair loss have you had going from a Lap Band to Sleeve?? Thank you!!

It's about your diet and nutrition. If you're eating the same as you did with the lap band, Hair loss shouldn't be any different

No it’s also about telogen effluvium. The portion of hair that is in the particular stage of growth during the surgery will fall out regardless. It’s an after effect of the anesthesia. Happens to me every time I go under no matter the type of surgery or nutrition.

Now nutrition is another cause and some are more susceptible to telogen effluvium than others, so no absolutes. But sadly for some of us it’s not avoidable no matter the Vitamins or protein!

Here’s a great article explaining it—

I went to hair school and I swear by this.

Put peppermint oil and lavender oil in your Shampoo and conditioner (mix well) I did 20 drops of each. This is not scientific but I've done a lot of research and it is guaranteed to work by my evaluations.

Thanks for the article! It explains a lot. I will try to manage my stress and take my vitamins. Hopefully, it will grow back.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
